Drop Down Menu Background Color
-
Looking for the setting to change User Interface colors - specifically, drop down menu background color>
Reading documentation for changing the User Interface Color indicates this can be done by going to the Settings --> Appearance Tab, however I don't see anything on this tab that allows the changing of User Interface colors, i.e., File, Edit, View, etc or the drop down menu background color for Bookmarks.
Any assistance on how to change User Interface colors would be appreciated.

Hi, and welcome to the Vivaldi ForumYou can change the colours of the interface but I am afraid not as you wish. Not yet at least as this will be added in the future if I remember correctly.
Nevertheless I will list below the settings I know that can change colour behaviour. In addition you should be aware that it is in a lot of cases easily possible to change whatever you like colour wise with a few lines of CSS (for this search and/or ask in the modifications part of this forum)
- Settings --> Appearance --> in the section "Colour" you can adjust the contrast in general
- Settings --> Themes You can do a lot of things I recommend the following order:
- Choose a preset colourset that more or less is in your favour
- Hit the pencil icon below those settings to adjust your choice even further
- Now there are 4 colour selectors which can be changed to reach the result you like the most
- A little bit lower you can switch on/off if the active tab should change its colour depending on the colourset the website you are visiting at the moment provides or if the tabs should be transparent
- And you can schedule automatic theme changes depending of the time of day (I must admit that I don't know if this works as it should as there were some bug with this and I lost track of it if this was fixed already or if there is still work ongoing)
In case you want special colours for certain menus only and not complete colour sets for the whole browser you need some css (which is pretty easy to implement)
In case I forgot about anything feel free to ask or add infos or correct me

Appreciate the quick response.
I've basically defined the 'theme' for browser. Just looking for the setting for the drop down menus to be dark background. Looks like I'll have to wait for this feature.
The contrast setting inverts colors for the dark theme I currently have defined and defeats the purpose of a dark theme.
FYI, I do not have a 'pencil icon' to modify settings.

As far as I know is there is no version that doesn't have this since last year. So if you really can't see any pencil there is someting wrong with your profile or installation.
I'll post a pic of it below to make sure that we're really talking about the same thing: -
At this time there is not a way to change the color of drop down menus. Hopefully in the future Vivaldi may offer this idea.

Or, perhaps make a feature request yourself. -

This is one of the features I would really like to see as well. A simple dark mode for menus will do just fine.
