Closing Afterlogic (aka webmail.vivaldi.net)
-
This solution is not scalable with our current user growth, for that reason we need to close it.
However we still want to support a simpler and easier webmail than Roundcube (which is currently being used on mail.vivaldi.net). So we’re in the process of testing another open source webmail client and will update you about it as soon as possible. Thanks for your understanding and being patient with us. -
Well, too much user growth should be a good thing. I would guess roundcube stays up until you found another solution?
-
@luetage yes to both
-
In the meanwhile, could you please make a option to delete emails in the overview(like in webmail. by selecting) over mobile mode from the side panel. Thanks
-
Shame, the interface is much more pleasant than the standard one. I hope you find a good alternative, perhaps asking for user contributions may provide a good one. Any programmers on here willing to offer something please?
-
Is the new interface supposed to be broken and unuseable? Because I can't get into it for the life of me....even changed my password for this to work...
-
I use this email for bills and game subscriptions, I hope it's not down for long.....can you offer us a replacement email server in the interim? Or just keep the old one in operation till then?
-
@YoursTruly_GTG Please contact the Vivaldi support team
Scroll to the bottom of https://vivaldi.com/contact/ and select
"I need help with…".The Support team will look into your request as soon as possible. Please note that their working hours are Monday to Friday, 08:00 CET - 18:00 CET.
-
@YoursTruly_GTG your email won't go down and you can access it anytime at mail.vivaldi.net
If for some reason we have to disrupt the service, we will announce it. -
@twil it's already possible
Here's a short gif showing how to do it: https://cl.ly/d93694c79eab -
@gaelle Thank you, this is exactly what I wanted.
-
I hope you will continue to support your email services for the foreseeable future as I use it as my primary email, it's amazing I wouldn't use it over any other service. Also, it's a shame the webmail is shutting down as I've grown to love the layout and UI.
-
@gaelle Translation. I believe that what you are saying it that because you all have grown so much in users, After Logic was going to start charging you all more money for a license to use their software, so it just makes since, business wise, to just close it down and discontinue using their software and revert everyone back to using the much older, but free and open sourced RoundCube Webmail Client. Hey, we can pay Akismet to block spam content from being posted on these boards, but we can't pay After Logic more money to support more users. Brilliant!!
-
@gaelle ,
Although webmail.vivaldi.net is not my primary email account, I do use it regularly and would trust that you will continue to provide this as a webmail service. Like several other users, I would be willing to contribute towards the upkeep of the service, if it became necessary for it's survival. I use the Vivaldi browser as my primary browser, both at work and outside. I appreciate all the good work you do and am pleasantly surprised that the email users count is approaching 100,000. -
bonjour
A webmail.vivaldi.net, le bandeau rouge d' avertissement empêche de supprimer des messages dans la mailbox quand on est sur android.
You cannot delete any mail, so go to mail.vivaldi.net when you have a smartphone.Before webmail.vivaldi.net shutdown,
go to http://www.wubijacq.com/rwd/vivaldi-opera.phpcordialement

I'm sorry to see that webmail.vivaldi.net is being shut down. I like the fact that it supports both caldav and carddav. Does Vivaldi have any plans to keep supporting them after the transition?
-
@Dingo email services will continue
About webmail we understand you and hope that you'll learn to appreciate the alternative solution we'll provide soon. -
@gorlaw the other open source webmail client we're testing supports both calddav and carddav.
-
I've been storing my contacts in Roundcube's address book and I want to be sure these get migrated safely to whatever replaces it. Will these be migrated automatically to the new tool? Alternatively, will I need to export my contacts from Roundcube, then re-import them into whatever replaces it? And will we have advance notice before Vivaldi.net's Roundcube instance is shut down, such that we'll have a chance to complete this export?
-
@Gwen-Dragon I think you've misunderstood my question. I'm currently using mail.vivaldi.net, not webmail.vivaldi.net. I created my account after the Afterlogic client had been deprecated, so I've never used it. It's the Roundcube client in use at mail.vivaldi.net where I've stored my contacts. The original post above, though, says that the Roundcube webmail client at mail.vivaldi.net will also be replaced with something else. This is the basis for my question.
