Thunderbird eMail links

It gets wierder. Today I tried to link to an item on The Register.
Vivaldi opened with the previous first page, and then locked, in the sense that there was no reaction from the page. I clicked the link in the Reg again and VIVALDI opened with THREE pages with the Reg page.....!!! -
@DoctorG My intial enthusiasm about such an easy solution quickly faded away. It just does not work. Next check and Thunderbird opened Opera as usual.

@Rumba I do not know what was changed by Thunderbird or why Opera resets default user/system browser.
In THunderbird:
Go to Preferences (Menu Edit → Preferences).
Click on the Attachments tab.
In the Content Type and Action section set HTTPS, HTTP, and FTP to Use Vivaldi.In Shell check
xdg-settings get default-web-browser
xdg-mime query default x-scheme-handler/https vivaldi-stable.desktop
xdg-mime query default x-scheme-handler/http vivaldi-stable.desktop
xdg-mime default vivaldi-stable.desktop x-scheme-handler/https x-scheme-handler/http
-
@Rumba Check in Thunderbird config:
network.protocol-handler.app.https
network.protocol-handler.app.httpShould be both
x-www-browser

@DoctorG Thanks a lot. Although it was a hell of a job to make Thunderbird find it. The Vivaldi installation is well hidden in the invisible folder one cannot link to from inside TB. Anyway, changed the link within only 30 minutes and a forum question and two question to AI, and here I am: ready to open Vivaldi from Thunderbird! Great!

You think answers from a AI is better than a human?

@DoctorG Perhaps not, but faster
