Refresh problems (extended black screen) 2.1.x, Windows 10
-
Happens almost exclusively in private window. Vivaldi refresh hits something the page is trying to load and a conflict evidently ensues. Mostly, Vivaldi hangs, both the private window and the other (earlier, regular) Vivaldi windows. Occasionally, it crashes. It seems to happen on pages that are trying to put up a lot of moving stuff and hot-linked content, not on all pages, certainly not on static pages.
Can it be that I'm the first one to report this? I searched for "refresh," "refresh problems" and "black screen", but found nothing relevant.

Not seen this (however, I rarely refresh private windows); but maybe example url(s) would help in checking it out?

Happens to be the one that I've got up right now. I've noticed the refresh problem on a number of pages from that site.I've had it happen more regularly and severely with any page from
http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/
and
http://www.timesofisrael.com/I noticed now that the refresh problem occurs even in a normal window, though not as severely. Also, I've tried displaying the various pages with content blocker, transitions removed and reader view turned on, all of them or some of them, in various combinations, to no avail.

As the title says 2.1.x I tried these in Vivaldi 2.1.1337.51 (Stable channel) (64-bit) incognito window (so my blocking extension was NOT active):
the progress indicator in the url field did stop at around 30/31 but the page never hangs or crashes for me (I was always able to scroll up/down using mouse or scroll bar).
So I then tried
Again the progress paused for a short time then completed. However, again no hangs/crashes.

Pauses but no hang/crash.Note: checking the inspect console:-
israelnationalnews and timesofisrael BOTH gave me a warning -A parser-blocking, cross site (i.e. different eTLD+1) script, http://k6s3v6r4.ssl.hwcdn.net/Combine.js?lang=2&dir=ltr&v=2&js=jquery/JQuery2.js,build/MainTools.js,Main.js,Dates.js,jquery/jquery.pagination.js,jquery/jquery.lazyload.min.js&css=PC.less&h=CpMpQ2UnXV, is invoked via document.write. The network request for this script MAY be blocked by the browser in this or a future page load due to poor network connectivity. If blocked in this page load, it will be confirmed in a subsequent console message. See https://www.chromestatus.com/feature/5718547946799104 for more details.
I guess "a future page load" could also mean refresh??
nypost
Error: Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 403 (Forbidden)This may be a location/country thing though.
But the short answer from me would be that although there are loading pauses, I don't see hangs or crashes on any of those.
Can you confirm that you have NO extensions active in an Incognito window? -
@TbGbe No extensions active. (I was surprised to find Convert Web Page to PDF and Skype installed, though turned off. I didn't install them, but perhaps they were pulled in when I migrated from Chrome.) I'm using the latest, too, 2.1.1337.51, also 64-bit.
I'm unfamiliar with the inspect console, and I didn't know to look there.
Doesn't surprise me that you couldn't reproduce my situation, since mine is apparently the first complaint about this and I've been experiencing it for a month or maybe 6 weeks. If this behavior is not strictly due to Vivaldi, where else should I look for a contributing cause?

It seems to be more severe when I have any two or more of those sites open at the same time.
Thanks for your attention.I installed the latest AMD drive and support programs. I'll report if there are any changes regarding this problem.

@Gwen-Dragon Thanks. I didn't quantify it, but when I've got multiple tabs open in a single incognito window, the black screens, hangs and even crashes seem to occur more frequently. What's a suitable way for me to send you one of the crash dumps?

@Gwen-Dragon
Did so moments ago, thanks. -
I am getting this same problem (black screen that seems to be running but nothing except a black screen is displayed....which occasionally ends up causing the tab to crash...or even Vivaldi in whole). In case it helps, here is an URL that repeatedly causes the black screen and crash:
