Keyboard shortcut for Open Link?
-
anyone know the keyboard shortcut to open a link? I mean is there some toggle key I can hold down when i click a link to open it? (i mean the equivalent action as in right click - open link)
to be clear, the link should open in the same tab overriding any desire by the link to open itself in a new window.

Bad news first! There is no mechanism to override the "open in new TAB" property and force overwriting current TAB.
There is a Feature Request for this to be implemented
https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/29835/a-shortcut-to-force-links-to-open-in-the-current-tabHowever, there are shortcuts available for opening links.
Shift-Click :- open in new foreground tab
Ctrl-Click :- open in new background tabAnd you can define your own key combinations under Tools/Settings/Keyboard - Page.

I'd like to see a kbd shortcut for it myself, there is a Paste and Go (on the same tab) shortcut but not a Open link (on the same tab) shortcut so it's perfectly doable, just not implemented yet.
In the mean time you can drag a link to the addressbar to force this behaviour. -
ok, I guess I can live with right clicking and choose "open link" for now..
it's really useful for search results such as when you search images and then want to open the page that contains the image (but since you opened already 5 different images from search results), that saves you from opening 5 new tabs and closing 5 existing ones.
