Netflix stopped working all of a sudden
-
Hello, new to the forum here.
I have been using Vivaldi for a while and loving it.A couple of days ago, though, Netflix stopped working for no apparent reason.
After the red loading circle, the video will play for a few seconds, and stops and gives an error message:
There are several different error codes, and when I search for them on Netflix Help Center, they all tell me to restart my computer (didn't help) or "Ensure your network supports streaming." Since Netflix has been working for my home network, it doesn't seem that's where the problem is. On top of that, Netflix runs fine in Chrome. Any idea how I can fix this? Any help/hint is appreciated.
Allen
P.S. Here's my Vivaldi version:

I'm having the same thing!
Few days ago got the error code on the preview branch of Vivaldi... Decided to go back to the latest stable version, and it's the same there as well.
Error codes: M7361-1253 and F7399-1260 seem to be the ones I get the most. Which according to Netflix suggests problem with either network or extensions. But I've tried with all extensions disabled and no bueno. Netflix works without any issues in Chrome, so it's not the network. Clearing all the stored data doesn't fix it either, and hardware acceleration on/off makes no difference.

Same issue here. Same error codes etc.
Last night I was watching a show, and I paused it for about 10-15 minutes, and when I came back I started getting the errors. Though a couple times netflix said I was missing widevine (though most times it just says "something went wrong, reload as per the OP pic above), I checked the vivalidi components and see I have widevine, so I checked for updates and it reported none.
Netflix will load fine, and even play the auto previews, but once I start a movie/show it plays for maybe 5-10 seconds then pops up errors.
After a bit of googling I tried many of the other suggestions I found (here and elsewhere) about installing this or that from places like github, third party extensions, codecs etc, all to no avail. So, I uninstalled vivaldi (using REVO Pro), and re-installed it, but that didn't work. I even installed chrome, a browser I haven't used (or had installed) in probably 5+ years as I saw someone say that it could fix the issue, it didn't.
I do not use the windows netflix app in case that matters (the app never works right for me anyhow)
Also tried, restarting computer, disabling AV, uninstalling all extension (I only have 4), again to no avail.
Netflix works fine and without issue for me in these browsers: chrome, cyberfox, firefox and IE.
Win 10 Home 64bit (up to date)
Vivaldi 2.1.1337.47 (Stable channel) (64-bit)
Widevine Content Decryption Module - Version: 4.10.1196.0
AV: Bit defender freeHopefully this is enough info, I will provide more if required.

I have the exact same problem.

Error Code: M7361-1253 Same problem here, but Netflix works on all other browsers on my Windows 10 PC, have disabled hardware acceleration as suggested in another post, but no joy.

@gwen-dragon
Yeah, Widevine is up to date:

Hopefully, it's ok to inquire about this issue within another's thread. I don't want to hijack, but my issues are the same as the OP (as per my post above). Apology's if I should have created a new topic to address this, I can and will if that is required or preferred.
As suggested I tried networking trouble shooting and repair (no issues to repair), and then restart by running with Win+R shutdown /t 0 /g. No change. I also disabled my AV, and then uninstalled it completely but that made no difference, and I have no other security tools except malwarebytes free version I uninstalled it, though the free version is on demand use only sho that shouldn't matter, regardless, there was no change. As mentioned above, netflix plays perfectly in the browsers I tried (IE, CHrome, Cyberfox and Firefox). Widevine and vivaldi are both up to date.
[edit to add]
I've now tried using netflix with vivaldi at my girlfriend's place (different internet provider) and had the same issues. Don't think its a ISP network issue.

Well to update this... I am still facing the same issues as before, on a different network. But it seems when I disable Bitdefender Free Edition I don't get the errors and Netflix plays fine in Vivaldi. As soon as I turn it back on again, it goes back to the same error codes as before.

@gwen-dragon Odd that it doesn't break the functionality in Chrome though, only Vivaldi.

Even uninstalling BD free edition (and running with no AV for testing) hasn't changed this issue for me. NF videos start playing, run for 10-30 seconds and then stop. No other browser has this happen, and I've now tested this on three different ISPs so again, don't believe its a provider issue. Nor do I believe its a network issue on my end, if it is I can't find it and it only effects this browser.
I'm not sure what changed over the last two months, but I never had issues with netflix in vivaldi for the couple years I've been using it. But something changed, obviously.
I know most folks here are volunteers, so I get things take time and all that. Would be nice though if the company or a rep at least responded to reports and emails though. I like the browser to be honest and could accept to some degree I have to use a different one for netflix (as I've been doing), but not being able to get any kind of help with this issue and another issue I have is disappointing to say the least. Unfortunately, after a month of trying to get assistance regarding this issue (here and reporting/emailing), and over three month on another issue no one has ever replied, so I'm going assume support isn't a priority, and uninstall vivaldi.
Anyhow, no hard feelings. Maybe I'll give it a go again in the future. Cheers.

I watched Netflix for several days, then last night I changed my Anti-Virus from avast Free to Bitdefender Antivirus Free Edition and today I got the errors M7361-1253 and M7702-1003.
So I turned the "Protection Shield" off and then I could stream again on Netflix. The odd thing is that Bitdefender gave me no message that it blocked anything.
After I watched an episode (Black Mirror 3x5
) I turned "Protection Shield" on again and then restarted Vivaldi.
The same error appeared. I'm gonna report this to Bitdefender.

Also got the error M7701-1003 caused by Bitdefender. They didn't reply yet.
Edit: I now uninstalled Bitdefender Antivirus Free Edition because it also interfered with my Acronis True Image Home 2018 (scanning every file it would backup and slowing down the whole system).

I think this error can be easily solved by clearing the browser's cookies and if this doesn't work try to recover the default settings for the ISP.
