While editing a post this "Post content was flagged as spam by Akismet.com" appeared?

I tried to edit a post to make it more clear, But while doing so this message appeared "Post content was flagged as spam by Akismet.com". What is that?
-
@varuna It is a forum setting to protect against frequent posting by new users. When you have more reputation (upvotes) the time limit between posts will be reduced. If you wait and try again now, it should be possible to edit your posts.

@varuna Akismet can be a little weird. If the changes to a comment are too minor, it will sometimes recognize it as the same comment, and even though you are editing, it will think you are trying to post the same comment twice - and flag it as spam. This only happens pretty rarely now, and mostly to new users. If you make major changes, it should think it's a new post, and leave you alone.
-
I'm hitting that too. Quite tedious.

Thanks for the explanation! It makes sense.
Can this system be tuned to be less dumb?
If you're proof-reading your own post, trying to fix typos or improving its style, the system rejects your edit...Doesn't it see that your're editing same entry and not mass-posting?
-
@AntonK I don't think this would be possible. Something that commonly happens is spammers will edit their old posts to insert links, and we want to avoid that.

@LonM , thanks for the reply.
I've faced this issue while editing my own post.
I think the system must not work this way, since it should differentiate between:- a) spam content as is (by keywords, markers or whatever);
- b) spam as mass-posting same text to the forum (multiple posts);
- c) edits of own post.
Apparently the case (c) is legit (if its content complies with (a)), and shouldn't trigger spam protection.
I hardly believe that Akismet (which is a paid system for commercial use) doesn't support such tuning. -
@AntonK I'm a moderator, but I'm not an admin. Perhaps one of the admin team could provide more insight when they get back to work on Monday.
I know this is frustrating - it has happened to me several times.
