Equivalent of Tab Mix Plus (opening in new tab)

  • Hello, I currently use Firefox with a much-needed extension : Tab Mix Plus. With this extension, I can automatically open a link (from bookmarks for example) in a new tab. Is it possible to have the same thing in Vivaldi ? Thank you. David.

  • A I'm sure this is on the todo list.

    In the meantime…

  • Well, I'd like not to use the middle button…

If this is on the todo list, I just have to wait ;-)

    Thank you.

    David.

I use tab Mix Plus too in FireFox & in PaleMoon.

Could not do without it !

But TMP does many more useful things, other than the one which you mentioned, and it is unlikely that Vivaldi would ever do all of them internally.

But that one is important also to me, as well as being able to set the location at which new tabs open, to be next to the currently active focused parent tab, also a setting offered in TMP.

  • This was an option in Presto Opera, can't think it won't show in Vivaldi. Quite a few features in TMP were options in Presto Opera, so I expect them to show in Vivaldi, but I'm not on a hurry for those.

Back in the old days, Tab Mix Plus was promoted as being the extension to use to give Firefox the ability to do tabs like Opera.

    And prob'ly rightfully so.

I could not get along without TMP for Mozilla-based browsers.

In the Mozilla SeaMonkey browser, we cannot use TMP, so I had to cobble together about a half-dozen smaller extensions in order to mimic the most important functions of TMP for my SM usage.

You could just hold down ctrl- as you click whatever you are clicking. It doesn't take very long, and then you're doing it automatically

Doing it with a simpler single Middle-Click, or thru the context menu (as I already have done for years in Mozilla) would be even better.

I am not interested in relearning what I already know how to do - Too OLD for that. ;)

Even younger folks should not be forced to waste their time relearning.

Change for the sake of change ?

    Nahhhh !

Doing it with a simpler single Middle-Click,

After some months spent here on the forum I'm amazed by the number of users that has never used the middle button. :)

  • ctrl-click seems to be the standard in all browsers for new tab, so it's not really relearning for many people.

It's standard on Mac world, where click+ something was mandatory.

After almost 2 decade spent with one button mice, they still have to get used to more than one button, not to mention three or more

Multiplatform browsers did the rest, but personally I don't mind to use two hands when I can use a single finger.

Hey, some folks do not even know that we CAN click the wheel, never mind what the result might be ! :P

Hmmmm…. This is the first time that I have heard of it, but it makes sense that Macs would have needed a different way, with only one button on their mouses.

Then again, I only use a few of the older keyboard shortcuts, which carry over from the days of DOS, and of WordStar.

  • Tab Mix Plus features I love: open search result, bookmarked URL and new URL in new tab. So handy.

  • Vivaldi Translator

Middle-click a link - Open a new tab and switch to it immediately. This feature is very missing! - Simple one click!
However, the middle-click the tab bar closes all open tabs.
If you have too many tabs open, and there is no free space on the tab bar, it does not work.
But this in any tab by right-clicking the drop-down context menu where there watching
    "Close all open tabs" option.
