Consistent link clicking behaviour (Open links the same way everywhere)
-
I posted in someone elses thread about this half a year ago, but it seems it was never resolved, so I will add it as a proper feature request and explain a bit more in depth what I am missing.
The behavior of clicking a link is not consistent in this browser.
This is with default settings:
-
If I middle click a link on a regular page, it opens in a new tab in the background.
-
If I middle click a link in the history list from the panel, it opens in a new tab, and makes the new tab the active one.
-
If I right click the "back button" and middle click a link in that tab history list, it opens the link in the current tab.
The preferred behavior would be to always open links clicked with middle button in the same way regardless if it's in the history list, on a web page or in the back button list.
The usual default for middle clicking I am used to from other browsers and which is currently active on regular pages in Vivaldi is to open a new tab, in the background, which is how it works in Firefox or Chrome for example.
I know that Middle Clicking the Back button will open the most recently visited page in a new background tab, which is at least nice, but I often check my back history and want to open a page a few steps back, or several of them.
I know that some people prefer to open in a new tab and make it foreground, which is fine as an option, but regardless, it should be the same behaviour no matter where you click the link.
Ctrl + Left click also has this behaviour:
-
In a regular page it will open the link in a new tab, in the background.
-
In the back button history list, it will open it in the current tab.
-
Right Click in a regular page will bring up the link context menu.
-
Right Click in the back button history list will... also open it in the current tab, just like left and middle clicking, regardless of modifiers.
Can we please get the same behaviour when clicking a link, regardless of it being on a web page, in the history panel or the back button history list, please?
