Change Speed Dial Thumbnail Delete Icon
-
I think the choice of "-" icon for closing/deleting the speed dial is wrong. We use "+" in the same context for adding the thumbnail, it's just logical for users to think "-" is removing the thumbnail not deleting the speed dial button itself.
Given the fact removing the speed dial button doesn't give any prompt (this should probaby be a reported as a bug) this can be a source of annoyance. -
@maxkarlernst You can hide the delete button in Settings.
Then you can use the context menu to delete speed dials.
-
@maxkarlernst Deleting bookmarks does not give any prompt either. It's not a bug. Too many warning dialogues interrupt work-flow. Accidentally deleted speed dials can be recovered by dragging them back out of the Deleted folder.
I prefer to hide the delete and add buttons, using the context menu for this is slower, but safer.

@randomlyfish I think there isn't any reason for do this. If you delete it you can restore it very simply. What isn't e.g. when closing window.
-
@randomlyfish In my opinion, it's unnecessary. If anyone doesn't want to delete speed dials accidentally they should check the option in Settings to remove the button.
There should be an option to Permanently Delete Bookmarks or Notes with Shift+Delete

Why? I can be equally dismissive and say you just need to go to bookmark dialog and empty trash
I agree with it though. -
@maxkarlernst Now you're just trolling. Merely expressing my opinion is not being dismissive.
You agree with my feature request because it's a good option to avoid extra steps. Warning dialogues on deleting bookmarks adds extra steps.

@maxkarlernst Given that I'm a long-time Vivaldi user (since one of the first Technical Previews), by now, I should know the Vivaldi browser inside-out, right? Wrong!
I configured my SD some time ago and haven't really changed it since. Earlier today, I wanted to update thumbnail of one of my bookmarks. First I tried to figure out why there is no reload button (for some reasons they're not available in Private Windows), so I tried to add a custom thumbnail and remove it right after. And what did I do? I deleted the bookmark, of course. The lack of "Undo" (or
[CTRL]
+[Z]
) action support in addition to the lack of "Restore" functionality in the trash is also a pain when you accidentally remove something (especially if you have a lot of bookmarks folders). So, I agree that this button is a bit counter-intuitive (or at least misleading). A good old-fashioned
×
would be better IMO. -

Thank you for your request. As it has received few votes over 4 years, it is now going to be archived.
