Enlarge Images on Hover
-
I tried to find such a feature request but didn't.
It could be nice to have an option to activate the possibility to see the original picture when hovering over it? (see example below)Mod Edit: Replaced animation with a link to it.
-
Please turn off the gif. It's too "in your face". I'm not even sure what you want. I use a thumbnail zoom which I can disable.
-
@para-noid Sorry for that and thanks to the moderator for having put it into a link.
-
@ornorm For now I recommend Imagus extension
It works even with image linksIMO It's really useful indeed but I have no idea if many people would like this behaviour "out of the box"
-
@rotfl Thanks for the tip Rotfl.
I know all users could not find it useful on a daily basis.
It is just a feature that shouldn't be activated by default but optional. -

On mouseover in a thumbnail image or direct URL to the image, show it in full-size in the same window (similar behavior as if it was a tooltip) preferably with some options to customize frame, glow color, etc.
What I use for now is this extension: Hover Zoom +
If this feature was integrated by default as another Vivaldi's out-of-the-box great feature, I think it would be a great differentiator from other browsers. I think this functionality is convenient enough to be considered as part of Vivaldi.

Some time has passed... So, just to update: is enlarge images on hover feature request being considered for a future release? For me Hover Zoom + is still an essential extension. It would be nice to replace it with an out-of-the-box Vivaldi feature.
THANKS!

@metafaniel what do you think, how fast this 5 upvotes feature request is implemented
(btw, my first extension after install: Hover Zoom+
)
-
@derDay Indeed hehe. I'm just trying my latest exhumation spell. A shame the request is unpopular. It's great to have an extension solution. Greetings
-
@derDay Not any time soon, as it is just one of 1,899 feature requests, and is not tagged as In Progress.
However, you never know. Some things are implemented that are not even requested.
-
@Pesala Thanks for your kind follow up

If this is implemented it should not be on as default. A function like this can be really annoying and off-putting if you don't expect or want it.
I've been using extensions for this function for years, but I still get frustrated occasionally when there is nowhere to put the mouse in the window without images popping up covering everything.
