You open a text editor and paste the provided css line into it. Then you save this file as
custom.css
. Afterwards move this file inside the Vivaldi application (not the Vivaldi profile folder). All you have to do now is open the filebrowser.html
with the text editor and reference the file you just placed. Detailed explanations are being provided in the guide (where to place the file directly, what lines to add to browser.html etc). If you can't follow these instructions, or if you don't feel comfortable about messing with the application, then you should probably let it be. Although I can tell you right now that no real harm can be done. The Vivaldi application can always be reinstalled, if something goes really south and your profile with all the user data remains untouched.If you have problems understanding because the instructions are written in English, just repost on the German forum board.

wow thank u for u kind help, i will try it
and also i will tell u if it worked for me or not -
i tried but this happend..
i created the custom.css file and puted it into the vivaldi application folder
also added this line in browser.html :
<link rel="stylesheet" href="style/custom.css" />
so did i forgot something?
-
@azaro Can't tell if you placed the file correctly, it has to be in the style folder, like described in the guide.
-
@azaro Did you have any experience with HTML before? Could it be that you replaced the default style with your custom CSS or that you inserted the line in a wrong place?
If you don't have a backup of your
browser.html
I suggest you reinstall your browser to revert any changes that you made and add the code provided by @luetage into thecommon.css
file directly. This way there is less chance that you'll break something, although you'll have to insert the code into that file after every browser reinstall/upgrade. -
Or you just live with these 2 entries on your startpage. They aren't useless.
-
browser html:
<!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <meta charset="UTF-8" /> <title>Vivaldi</title> <link rel="stylesheet" href="style/common.css" /> <link rel="stylesheet" href="style/custom.css" /> </head> <body style=" background-color: #d4d4d4; background-image: url('resources/vivaldi-splash-icon.svg'); background-size: 16%; background-position: center; background-repeat: no-repeat;"> <div id="app" /> <script src="localeSettings-bundle.js"></script> <script src="background-common-bundle.js"></script> <script src="vendor-bundle.js"></script> <script src="settings-bundle.js"></script> <script src="urlbar-bundle.js"></script> <script src="components-bundle.js"></script> <script src="bundle.js"></script> </body> </html>
It should look like this. You can copy and paste it in browser. html
I think you deleted the
<link rel="stylesheet" href="style/common.css" />
