Epub Support
-
TL;DR
The title is clear enough.Description
Wouldn't it be nice? There are no extensions to read epub ebooks (I know about). A quick search at Chrome Web Store reveals no reader for this format.
For example, I have to work on a project and I'd like to read something I'm researching and learning. I'm tiling a PDF in another tab and I can read the docs and work at the same time. But I can't do this with an epub ebook format.
Imagine tabs tiling using an epub (or more) as a reference and another tab to work/study with that ebook, always at hand, without having to redimension the windows to have both, side by side and without having to switch to another application withAlt+Tab
.I'd vote for this feature if I were you haha.
Thanks for reading and greetings.MODEDIT: Added tags.

I know microsoft edge can handle epub files, which means windows users have out-of-the-box capability for reading such files.
I also know that, as you mention, PDFs can be opened as standard in every modern web browser.
I think it might be of particular interest from a vivaldi perspective as vivaldi has a nicely configurable horizontal reader mode. It seems like a logical usage to support epub (or potentially any ebook format) for that.
It would also provide a nice little attraction for new users much like how chrome attracted many users back in the day by being an easy to use "trustworthy" alternative to adobe acrobat.

Edge is the only browser effectively able to natively read epubs. Being only on Windows 10, that means that if Vivaldi was able to do the same thing, Microsoft and Windows 10 would lose one of their best feature.
Incidentally, I wanted to post the same request for months, but the post of metafaniel is far better than what I'd write, thanks

@zaibon Thanks for the suggestion. I haven't found it before, yet that's not the point I'm trying to notice... Firstly as @GoldNoway said, it has limitations but most importantly as @LonM stated:

That's my point.
Thanks anyway for the suggestion! Greetings. -
Some time has passed... So, just to update: is epub support being considered for a future release?
THANKS! -
@metafaniel Any feature request will be considered for future releases, but if it is not tagged as IN PROGRESS nor PIPELINE, it is not likely to happen any time soon.

Is this still not possible? It would be really nice.
I see the the new edge now has it.

@dmg Vote for the first post if you haven't already done so. (Voting again will remove your vote).
