Chrome Style Bookmark Manager
-
Hi,
Of course, I do realize that google chrome browser has many developers that are constantly working on their browser, at least for me ..there is one feature I hope gets implemented in the future. That is a bookmark manager that's similar to the one that's available in the Chrome browser, it makes the task of sorting bookmarks so easy while using the Vivaldi browser, at least currently you seemingly have to use an extension for this purpose.I'm currently using this extension: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/search/recursive bookmark sorter (Mod Edit: Fixed broken link) I still enjoy using Vivaldi as it has some neat feature's other browser's don't have.

@davy49 I see that you already commented on the existing feature request True Alphabetical Bookmarks Sorting.
One can already sort bookmarks alphabetically by title so I am not sure what you want as the existing feature already sorts bookmarks recursively in all subfolders.
-
Hi,
For now, I'll just utilizing the recursive bookmark sorter extension...I'm surely NOT trying to be negative towards the developer's of the vivaldi browser, and I'm glad that it offers feature's that the google chrome browser doesn't have.
David -
@davy49 I am not being negative towards your request, I just want to understand what it is, and if it is any different to the linked feature request. Sorting bookmarks in the Bookmarks Panel is already recursive.

Hi Pesala,
I don't know if you ever use the google chrome browser or not, but if you ever have I'm sure that you have noticed when you open the bookmark managerby clicking on the three dot's located at the top right hand corner of the screen, and then bookmark manager, you can then see the option to sort bookmarks in the options. At least for me it's a nice feature to have.

@davy49 If you open the Bookmarks Window and click on the column headers, you can sort the bookmarks in alphabetical order. Click again will reverse the order, click again will revert to manual sorting.
-
Hi Pesala,
You stated, " If you open the Bookmarks Window and click on the column headers, you can sort the bookmarks in alphabetical order. " Where is this area located, I don't see it here: vivaldi://bookmarks .
Thanks,

- Use the default shortcut of Ctrl+B (I changed mine to Ctrl+Shift+B to avoid possible conflicts with bold formatting)
- Open the speed dial and click on bookmarks
- Select Manage Bookmarks from the File Menu
This is the bookmarks manager in Vivaldi.Or, you can use the Bookmarks Panel, which is easier.

@davy49
This is a screenshot from Vivaldi's bookmarks manager:
Click on "Title", "Address", "Nickname" or "Description" to sort the bookmarks based on the column you clicked on (Click on "Title" to sort alphabetically based on the title, e.g.). -
Hi,
To be honest..I really need to start thinking differently when using this browser, it's NOT supposed to be another google chrome browser ! It has a a totally different set of feature's that I like better than chrome..I do miss the bookmark manager feature that chrome has however. But until possibly some day when the developer's of vivaldi hopefully might decide to add a bookmark manager 'similar' to the one available in chrome, I'll just utilize what's available.
Thanks,
David -
- Type "chrome://about" into the address bar
- Click on "chrome://bookmarks" (click, dont type it)
This will get you the default bookmark manager, which isn't normally used in Vivaldi.
-
Hi LonM,
WOW, I was hoping something like this was available while using vivaldi, I haven't tried it yet but of course I will..thanks so much for your suggestion !!
David
Update: I opened a new browser window , I pasted this "chrome://about" into the address bar and I was informed that " The Site Can't Be Reached ", maybe this is no longer available ?? -
@davy49 I just typed
chrome://about
in both Stable and Snapshot and it works in both. -
Typing
chrome://about
worked for me (latest snapshot). After that it'svivaldi://bookmarks
(notchrome
://bookmarks
). -
Hi,
I discovered what the issue was..I was using this: "chrome://about"...instead of this: chrome://about..the quotation mark's was the problem.
Thanks,
David -
I was successful in sorting my saved bookmark's the way I'm used to when I use chrome..now I'm actually to the point of using vivaldi MORE than chrome !!
