Sluggish, and not responsive
-
This happens very rarely. After using V for a few days Vivaldi becomes super sluggish and super unresponsive. I have gotten in the habit of clearing out the internet cache each day. Vivaldi just keeps getting worse and worse. Has Vivaldi sent out a "micro update" which would affect the user in a not good way? FYI, I don't save cookies except for session only. I find it difficult to believe that clearing out the profile will do any good if V keeps slowing down after each "new" profile. This is a clean install with no standalone present at this time.

@para-noid It doesn't happen here. I don't know what might be happening to you. Do you run extensions?
-
Well I didn't delete my browsing data for 1 month and experience something like unresponsiveness. If I were you, I would check my extensions, antivirus and firewall software.

Tried to make a reply but my install was not cooperating at all. Now I'm on the snapshot channel.
This time I have Comodo Firewall "off". Windows Firewall "on".
Running a naked install. No extensions. No bookmarks. Nothing. Just the latest snapshot.
Will try running this set-up as-is for a few days. Then we'll see.
This has happened before. Had to to clean installs each time. -
Try disabling Sync. Vivaldi was crashing for me every time and that was the solution I found.
-
@kallon I don't have sync enabled. All I have is the snapshot with no extensions installed. I'm starting to think the culprit is/was Comodo Firewall. So far no slowdown in Vivaldi. Nice. Either tomorrow or Saturday I will start adding my favorite extensions. One at a time.
I was using the HIPS (D+) feature of CFW and had all ports stealthed. I like the stealth part of a firewall. With CFW turned off I tested my ports by running the ShieldsUp test at grc(dot)com and found Windows Firewall had all my ports stealthed.
-
I found the culprit. It was Comodo Firewall. Not sure if HIPS (D+) had anything to do with the issue. All I know is it appears Windows Firewall is enough. No surprise to most people. It's safe to say Comodo Firewall is now disabled and not running in the background. But not yet uninstalled.
After several days of running Vivaldi with no CFW Vivaldi is fast and responsive. Just the way I like it. I have been installing my favorite extensions one at a time with no lag in performance. I am also back to running both stable and a standalone versions. Both are quick and responsive. Everything is perfect.
Moral of the story, "Don't run third party software you don't need".
