Bookmark's "Open all in new tabs" feature & link-capturing download manager
-
Hi everyone!
I'm really new to both Linux & Vivaldi, & in the process of migrating from Win Firefox. There's a simple yet powerful feature in FF, that when I browse within the bookmark menu using the keyboard, I can open all bookmarks in a folder by pressing the O key. The hassle of having to manually open every single bookmark in any folder is kind of a deal-breaker for me. So are there any solutions to this problem?
2nd, another thing I miss about Window$ is IDM. It's fast & effective in a way that I can simply click a link or the IDM embedded button, & if the file type is mentioned in IDM repository then it will be downloaded. What download manager should I use in Linux that can do the same in Vivaldi?
Thank you!

Use the Bookmarks Panel. Right-click on the folder, and open in new tab, or a new background tab.
On the Bookmark Bar you can currently only do this for folders, not for subfolders. Vote for the existing feature request for the Context Menu in Bookmarks Bar. It takes a lot of work to fully implement this. It is an issue that has been wanted since the Bookmarks Bar was introduced.
The Bookmarks Menu has the same issue, but that is a much more recent addition. No doubt they will both be fixed in due course, but don't hold your breath. Use the workarounds.
A Download Manager is also a popular feature request.
If you add this link as a web panel you can easily search for other feature requests simply by changing the search string from "Downloads" to any other term. Enclose more than one word in quotes to search for a precise phrase.

Thank you. It's kind of a surprise that a tab-oriented browser like Vivaldi lacks this tab feature. In the mean time I'll learn to get used to workarounds.
On the other note, what I wanted to ask is the best separate app in your opinions to download things. I'm OK with a browser lacking strong download manager. Of course it's wonderful if Vivaldi has an internal one. -
@longtry I can't help you with that since I use Windows, but you may find some extension in the Chrome Store

In Bookmark Panel, or Bookmark Manager, or SpeedDial, middle-click [press mouse wheel] on the desired folder or subfolder, then delight as V dutifully opens all the pages from that folder.

@steffie wow that's a good workaround. Still a workaround, but nice!
