Can't play embedded Youtube and Vimeo videos
-
Hello,
Vivaldi doesn't play embedded videos on my Windows 7 system anymore. I'm running 1.15.1137.3 on a 64 bit system and this behaviour started with the last two updates. It only affects embedded videos, videos on the Youtube or Vimeo websites run as they should.
When I hover over the play button on the embedded video it does not turn red and I can't interact with anything in the video. I'm running uBlock and Privacy Badger but even with those two extensions disabled the embedded videos won't play.
Any suggestions?

@vangeist Disable hardware acceleration. No Video on FB and YT

@vangeist iframes (which is what most video embed use) are broken on the latest snapshot. You could try to open this in a new tab by accessing the video directly, or using the browser dev tools to locate the actual URL and opening it in a new tab.
There's nothing much that can be done until the issue is fixed.

Has no effect.

Thanks, that's the information I was looking for.

Same problem here with recent snapshots.
I had this enabled - when disabled, the problem is resolved (on snapshot ver 1.15.1147.29 linux). ymmv
Strict site isolation
Experimental security mode that ensures each renderer process contains pages from at most one site. In this mode, out-of-process iframes will be used whenever an iframe is cross-site. – Mac, Windows, Linux, Chrome OS, Android#enable-site-per-process disabled

I had huge problems with the previews of 1.15 so I had to roll back to the previous stable version for the first time in Vivaldis history. Now that 1.15 is called stable I updated but I still have the same issues:
On many websites, things like youtube videos can't be clicked or things are misaligned compared to other browsers or the previous stable version, scrollbars sometimes are missing.Example: http://cdm.link/2018/04/yes-aviciis-death-should-be-a-wake-up-call-and-not-just-for-edm/
None of the videos on that page are clickable for me.
Same with the video on this page:

I haven't found a solution so far and it's the same on my Laptop, so not installation specific.

I moved your post to this related thread, as I don't have any problem playing embedded YouTube videos on either of those sites in 115 Final or my default version.
Specs: AMD A10-6800K, 8 Gb on Win 10 64-bit •Snapshot 1.15.1147.32 (64-bit)
Try disable UBlock and/or other extensions. These may be the cause of the problem. If you cannot resolve the issue, then submit a Bug Report

@thomashelzle see @slake's suggestion.
Both examples work with Strict site isolation disabled (Win10 and Linux) and are unresponsive when enabled.
vivaldi://flags/#enable-site-per-process
Known cause of content embedding problems.@vanGeist did this help in your cases as well?
If so you might want to mark the thread asResolved

@becm thank you, it helped me, now all embeded videos I can play.
-
@becm Thanks, that was indeed it. Can't even remember why I had enabled it now...

Hello,
Sorry for opening and old post, but I'm having this same issue nowadays and the "vivaldi://flags/#enable-site-per-process" no longer appears. Is there a way to solve this to see embed videos from vimeo in vivaldi?
-
@Gwen-Dragon Hi, i did a test without any extension and the vivaldi blocker off. Same error. It looks like que iframe from vimeo doesn´t load.
I don't have que link know, 'cos this was from some live streammings and due they are over, the links are no longer available. But it happened to me many times already. I guess is a vivaldi config option, 'cos in chrome the it worked fine
-
@Gwen-Dragon I did the troubleshooting and the new profile tests. I checked and every thing works fine. Also inoreader and the vimeostream link works. It seems, the iframe/embed only fails for the site where i discovered so it looks to be a site issue and not a vivaldi one.
I'll contact those devs to see what they say. Thanks for your help and guidance.
