Annoyances
I use uBlock Origin. I will check that, thanks.

That option should certainly be made available in the privacy settings menu, not hidden as it is now.

“By default” means that users
By default means Vivaldi asks if you allow the website sends Desktop Notification.

I haven't checked it: the annoyances filters may just be for the cookie notifications on most websites that you have to click on to get them to dismiss. If the filters won't do this, then I apologise.
It's possible to block all the Desktop Notification on:
vivaldi://settings/content/notifications
-
Also please note, there is a bug in above settings link.
When you enterchrome://settings/content/notifications
it opens proper notifications settings, but set address bar (redirect like?) tovivaldi://settings/content/notifications
When you enter:
vivaldi://settings/content/notifications
, it opens settings in tab, set address bar tovivaldi://settings/content/notifications/
(note slash at end) and do NOT go to notification options. -
@sylwesterz The fact that internal "chrome" addresses spoof a "vivaldi" location, and that entering the "vivaldi" address does not reach the relevant internal Chromium page is a very well known and much-discussed issue. It resolves gradually as the Vivaldi team are able, one page at a time, to replace the "chrome" internal pages with real "vivaldi" ones.
-
Thanks, maybe it could be better to not spoof/redirect when resulting link do not work at all? Now it looks like a bug...
-
@sylwesterz It could be considered a bug - but at the moment it's by design. Every time you enter a "chrome" address the result shows as "vivaldi" because this is not the Chrome/Chromium browser - it is the Vivaldi browser. The replacement of internal pages (there are over two hundred of them) is, necessarily, gradual and a work in progress.

It works for me - chrome://settings/content/notifications
Thanks a lot for this way out. I was amazed the standard settings lacked the option to disable these annoying notifications. I never use them. I don't know what they are for. I either go to the website I want directly or use RSS feeds.
It was like asking me all the time "Do you want a popup or not? Well, I will show you one anyway"

There’s currently another arms race in progress, between bad-faith website developers and browser developers: since the inevitable notification abuses started, browsers began remembering the users’ Deny selection, and stopped bothering them; websites now repeatedly pop-up simulated “Allow notifications for this website?” messages, to avoid this ban.
It’s a fun exercise to detect when the pop-ups are simulated or real; when I have the time, I like to [allow] the fake prompt then [deny] Vivaldi’s real one, which brings the ban.
The Block list (atchrome://settings/content/notifications
) is getting pretty long, tho…
