After Renaming Tab Stack, New Name doesn't show
-
I have been attempting to put names to my tab stacks, which I think I have done properly as per Vivaldi's "help" instructions but I have only been able to do this with the tab stacks set vertically on the left side of the screen. When I move the tab stacks to the top of the screen, the new names for the stacks do not show as a hover-over or in any other form. Further to that, with the stacks at the top of the screen and a right-click menu showing "Rename Tab Stack" I see no way of changing the name of the stack. Any thoughts on what I'm doing wrong would be greatly appreciated. What am I missing in the set-up? Thanks

@punneymoon It works fine for me from the Right-click menu, Rename Tab Stack. The new name is displayed as the Title on the Tab Stack, the original Page Titles are displayed on the bottoms of the Tab Popup Previews.

@pesala Many thanks. I think I see where I've been misunderstanding the process. Unlike your example, I have about nine tab stacks going plus many individual tabs (housecleaning has never been a strong suit of mine). Therefore, real estate for tab stack titles is super limited, though it appears my new names are in fact there. What I was expecting in such a situation was the new name to be displayed in a hover-over of the tab stack, as the name of an individual tab would be displayed on a hover-over (example: Washington Post: Breaking News). Instead, what I see in the hover-over of the various stacks is "Tab stack with 3 tabs", "Tab stack with 6 tabs" etc. Perhaps there is some way to set up this behaviour in the Settings, but I don't see it. It would be a useful addition -- for me, at least. Again, thanks for clearing this up.

@punneymoon Yes. No end of problems arise for tab-hoarders. Multi-row Tabs and other feature requests like a scrolling tab bar have been suggested.
I recommend opening no more tabs than will fit on one window, then open a new window. The Window Panel is not complete yet, but it may help you to organise multiple tabs in separate windows.
