Windows Phone

Create a Windows Phone version of Vivaldi (I understand this is likely to be long-term.)
-
I am afraid that Windows Phone is.... in "terminal condition"
Did You mean "Surface" or something? -
@dominicw2 Not yet, but a mobile versions is planned for the long term.
-
@rotfl I'm sorry that it's in "terminal condition", but I have one and I want to keep on using it - so I'd like my favourite apps to work on it. I know people would probably say 'get an Android or iPhone', but I like Windows Phone.
-
@dominicw2 You're using a format that, for now at least, has been abandoned by manufacturers and software developers (MS announced its demise last July). I can't rule out that it might make a comeback if devices like Surface get enough market penetration, but at the moment no one is developing for it, nor likely to develop for it. Vivaldi still does not have a version out for the most popular and widely-used mobile format, Android, and will not be re-working their road map to take a side road to an abandoned platform.
-
@ayespy It certainly seems logical to do Android first, but I'm ever hopeful that WP versions of things will come along at some point!
-
@dominicw2 said in Windows Phone:
I'm ever hopeful
Live in hope; die in despair. It is better to be a realist and accept that there will never be a version for the Windows Phone. I know, “Never say ‘never’,” but it is clearly very unlikely to happen, so look for other solutions. It does not have to be a $999 iPhone.
-
@pesala I sometimes wonder about KDE - will the mobile version of Vivaldi be made to support KDE's Plasma Mobile?
-
@dominicw2 If it is truly KDE based then it should support vivaldi out of the box. I wouldn't hold your breath about getting a mobile-specific interface for it though.
