Links opened in a new tab should inherit the zoom setting of the parent

if they are within the same domain. If you prefer to see example.com in 150 % then example.com/foo is usually better displayed in 150 % as well.
-
@ghpy I thought that was what the option in Settings Webpages, Use Tab zoom was supposed to do.

But it doesn't do that - at least not when you open a link in a new tab.
Set the zoom for this page to 200 % and use the middle mouse button on e.g. "Feature Requests". This will open "Feature Requests" at 100 %. -
@ghpy The text says: "Retain zoom level when navigating between websites."
- When it's enabled the new tab opens at the default webpage zoom.
- When it's disabled I get the same result.
I understand and agree with your request, but this feature seems to be buggy, or I have misunderstood what it is supposed to do.

Frankly speaking I had completely forgotten about this setting. The option is intended to be there but not working at all. Whether the box is ticked or not the behaviour is exactly the same. When a page is displayed in 150 % and I open a link from this page in a new tab, this new tab always has zoom setting 100 %.
-
I filed a bug report for this, but it is a feature that should work as you described. The optimal zoom tends to be site-specific, and more often than not, one opens links on the same site.
I use a default zoom of 120%, but may increase that to 150% at the end of the day when my eyes are tired.
(VB-37006) Webpage Setting Use Tab Zoom Does Nothing

Thank you.

Please, are there any news regarding this feature / bug? It is really annoying to set zoom of every new tab opened through "Open link in new (background) tab" over and over again even though it's on the same site.
-
@Rudolphus Did you disable Use Tab Zoom?
-
I have tried it with "Use Tab Zoom" both enabled and disabled - behavior is the same = every new tab has zoom range reset to 100%.
-
I have to say I am confused a little bit now - after a while it seems to work (with "Use tab zoom" disabled)! Maybe I had to restart Vivaldi?
-
@Rudolphus You have to disable Use Tab Zoom, visit the site and zoom to the desired level. Chrome remembers your last used zoom setting for each domain. For this reason, it could be a privacy issue, as anyone can see which sites you visit from the list that it keeps.
Goto:
chrome://settings/content/zoomLevels
-
Thank you! As I said, it works as expected now. The probable "privacy issue" does not bother me, at least for now :o) Anyway, thank you for the address to settings - had no idea of it!
