Wikiwand extension no longer redirect wiki links

Can't remember which version of vivaldi when it starts breaking, right now I'm on stable 1.14 and wikiwand doesn't work. Had tried installing on Opera and extension works fine on that browser. Wonder if anyone knows if there's a workaround to this?
-
The redirections in https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/header-editor/eningockdidmgiojffjmkdblpjocbhgh and https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/skip-redirect/jaoafjdoijdconemdmodhbfpianehlon also don't work anymore. Something is broken in Vivaldi...
-
Yep, I saw the same problem and I have to use other browsers while Vivaldi is fixing this... :x
-
You gotta make sure it's not a chrome64 problem. Have you tried it on the chrome browser itself (on version 64)? If it breaks there too the extension developer simply has to fix it, would have nothing to do with Vivaldi, since the extension would break on any chromium browser then.
-
No idea. I don't use Chrome at all. My Vivaldi is 32bit so not sure why it would matter even if it's affecting a 64bit browser.. Stranglely enough my Opera is a 64bit version and it worked there...
-
@andydelz No, Vivaldi is at chrome version 64 currently, Opera stable at the moment on 63.
You are talking about 64bit, which is another thing altogether.
-
so what do i do ? install a chrome version 64? Yah. could do that. will check back with result.
-
@luetage Just installed the latest version from google. The extension works in Chrome. (the one time that i got it to work...) off topic.. subsequently that browser keeps hanging for no reason though.

A French Soprano just made a .user.js to workaround the redirection bug with Wikiwand :
Just download http://vivaldi-fr.com/pierre/userjs/wikipedia2wikiwand.user.js and drop it in vivaldi:extensions page and valid. Not perfect but works -
@ra-mon said in Wikiwand extension no longer redirect wiki links:
Why are you guys running an independent Vivaldi community, isn't this kind of counterproductive?
-
@luetage It's not another community. It's just a unofficial alternative zone for Vivaldi french speaking users, the same way the opera-fr site existed for years...
I manage it and it doesn't make me less active here (Fr forums) or elsewhere (tests as soprano, translations, CM and support...) -
@ra-mon Hmm, as long as it isn't on Vivaldi servers and not managed by the Vivaldi team, it's independent -- and calling it an unofficial alternative is just proof of this. While I'm certain that it doesn't make you less active here, what about users who only sign up there, but not on Vivaldi?
It also seems like it splits the French Vivaldi community in two, with both sides not being very active (looking at Vivaldi local forum post count and vivaldi-fr.com forum post count). I'm certain it has been created with the best intentions, don't get me wrong, but I'm wondering if this makes sense overall.
-
vivaldi-fr forums isn't really active, true. But, many users signed on the two sides :).
The FR community isn't divided, no problem and, one more time, it's just the old unofficial opera-fr site reborn, nothing else... with old friends there, who can BTW help other users here... -

but what do you mean by "drop it in vivaldi:extensions page"?
Update: Geee, I already know. Never knew Vivaldi could do something like this.
You're right, really not perfect but, hopefully, it won't last long.
