Auto-Reload Options
-
@jvleminc Yes, it's one of the oldest requests with lots of supporters, but there is a lot to be done.
-
I open several pages and I read something in a page but all pages happen to auto refresh and I hate that so I want to choose auto-reload
I hate to reload the pages again -
I hate auto refresh for pages. I wish you could choose whether the person wants auto refresh or not
Please do that -
I also vote for this. It's especially handy on certain sites (like online banking) to keep you logged in. So please add this option as a standard feature, I rather not use an extension.

@ozoratsubasa, I came here to request the same: Programable Auto-Reload.
Any followup on this? -
@derDay
That link is broken. Do you have an updated suggestion? -
@mrmeireles sorry, it seems, that the extension isn't availible any longer. But it works and acts normal here, so you have to look for another autoreload extension:

I'd very much like to stop pages auto-refreshing (especially some news sites that keep refreshing within seconds making it very uncomfortable to read.
This extension might do this if I can enter a value (something like "*.*" that will cover for any URL for its "Auto Start" setting:

@Sadi58 A quick and dirty method is to save the web page as an image, close the web page and open the image.
-
@Pesala very dirty
Thanks anyway.
I've found another method to try:
Tools > Developer Tools > Console:window.onbeforeunload = function(){ return 'Reload?';}
They say it will prompt once and then leave you alone.
-
@LonM 1 year later, still this easy to implement function is not present. The developers are joking right? What can we do so we can make this happen?!
-
@Darsh Hi - Another one here wishing for this feature!
-
yes I wish this feature too, i miss it since opera
-
This also used to be one of my favourite features in (old) Opera.
Can't believe that there's been no response from the developers, given how many have shown interest.
They make a big song and dance about Vivaldi being developed for the users, but when a load of users request a feature (how many, 100?), they show no interest in them or the feature! Not even so much as a 20s post saying that "it's on a list", or "we can't implement this right now, sorry..."
What a shame!
-
@nutter The PIPELINE tag indicates that it is planned, but not actively under development.
Try this extension for now: Super Auto-refresh Plus

Or use
save as
and save it as an mhtml file, which you can then open in Vivaldi and read it like a normal webpage, clicking links if you want. -

Welcome to the forum, this is an active community and can help you find answers to your questions and work through any issues you might have.
To start, no - not 100 - there are 81 votes for this feature request, that doesn't put it in the top 20 of current feature requests. There are over 200 of these feature request threads that have been completed. I'd say the devs are getting the messages and implementing what the users want as their workload allows for it.
More to the point however, the dev team is small, tiny in comparison to some other browsers. They don't have the time to hangout in the forum reading & responding to all the feature requests. That information gets passed along to them as appropriate and they implement them when it fits in with the rest of the work they have on their plates.
Instead, some volunteer users here on the forum have a little bit of insight into the development of Vivaldi, and those folks and can sometimes answer questions about specific features and bugs.
As @Pesala pointed out though, this feature has been accepted already as indicated by the
PIPELINE
tag. So there's no need for anyone to reply saying "it's on a list", that information is displayed as a property of the thread itself.Due to the nature of the work and the size of the team, Vivaldi doesn't speculate on release dates, so you won't get any predictions of when any feature will be available. Instead, exercise a little patience, it will be rewarded as evidenced by the high quality of the Android browser even in its prerelease state. Until the features you want become available natively, folks here usually can help you achieve what you need in another fashion. There are extensions mentioned previously that provide the functionality for this request.
Cheers

Absolutely a vote from me, for two reasons:
- Using extensions to augment missing behaviour is often a security risk. An average user won't be able to tell whether or not the extension actually can get access to the requests being sent.
- For my personal part, my bank recently reduced the auto-logoff timer down to 5 minutes so that I have to manually click on something to avoid being logged out if I need access for e.g. 30 minutes instead of 5 minutes.
I would formulate the need for a function like this:
- New option on the right-click menu for a tab to "Auto-reload page and elements" that has a submenu
- There should be a "Block page and elements from auto-refreshing" and a "Cancel Auto-reload" option on the submenu
- Ideally, the "Auto-reload page and elements" option should have some predefined values, like e.g. "Every 5/25/55/115/28/550/1750 seconds" but it should also have a "choice for "Configure auto-reload" that let the user specify BOTH the interval between reloads AND a timer to stop the reloading after a period. This is important for e.g. banking sites where you might want a reload every 2 minutes for up to e.g. half an hour.
