Vivaldi 1.14 – Three years of continuous innovation

@7pot: Found the problem...vivaldi does not like the forecastfox weather extension, messes up the startup settings. I deleted the extension, and now it resumes with last session.

I had issue with latest version of forecastfox weather fix extension on v13 but is resolved with v14 released. Just remove the extension, add it again and tweak it as a new one. Hope this helps.

@vivab The correct syntax seems to be:
- Clear checkbox
- Marked checkbox
This is easier to type than using miscellaneous symbols, but how is it going to work in a forum post to produce active checkboxes? This will need some coding on the site, surely?
These extensions on GitHub are not part of the basic spec. This is overkill for notes for posting on forums.
I'm not getting ANY response to markdown in this final at all! (e.g. I see that "ANY" is just bordered by three asterisks in both editor and markdown mode in my note...)
Edit: and now I've just updated and re-sync'ed the snapshot and markdown doesn't work in the notes there either!
What's going on?!?

Where is RSS reader it is 2018 already REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

@reddy-shyam: Tried to delete it and re-install, but got the message that forecastfox would load on system startup and run as a background app even when vivaldi is closed. Only wanted FF because I wanted to know the "RealFeel" temperature. Not worth the trouble!

Congrats on the new milestone.
Do note however that (VB-36552) ERR_UNKNOWN_URL_SCHEME on any custom url handler registered in Windows appears as a regression in this stable build following 1.13.
Had to roll back as I depend on that feature a lot.

@ubik: Vivaldi could use significant performance improvements in all areas. Very slow compared to some of the main competition over time and/or if you have a lot of tabs open and/or with a lot of bookmarks. Seems anything but casual usage and Vivaldi can't perform nearly as well as Chrome or FF. Please Vivaldi devs save us from this overall slowness!
-
@zandathrax It works fine here. You need widevine installed.
-
@ubik Same here. This release and the last few snapshots have been absolutely horrible. The startup seems to take a half a minute or more, tabs become unresponsive frequently, sometimes even the browser becomes unresponsive, uses about 90% CPU and just starts eating gigabytes of ram. This tacked onto the fact that several parts of the UI are broken, it's unusable for me. It's unfortunate that this is considered "Stable"...
I generally use snapshots and even I've had no choice but to downgrade to 1.13. Startup takes seconds and everything works well enough for me. -

Have you tried clearing reminiscences of the extension in appdata folder and install again? Just a thought.
Hope you are using this same extention https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/forecastfox-fix-version/boljdehmejbffnfiiicckjhafabdepnd

This "stable version" is a complete disaster for me!
Magnet links are not working, sites sometimes randomly won't load correctly, Vivaldi randomly turns completely black and i can't do anything except to force kill it. All these problems started with Snapshot 1.14.1072.3. I tried to figure out what could be affecting some of the issues, but no luck. I tried refreshing profile, reinstalling, playing with extensions, changing settings... Nothing fixes anything. If i go to 1.13 stable and use the exact same settings and extensions i have 0 problems. The only thing I'm sure about, is that all these problems started with 1.14.1072.3!

@fox-linuxthebest: Sync is not ready for stable yet.
-
Finde das wirklich einen tollen Browser!

Thanks for another great update. Still hoping to see some ram/cpu/gui optimalizations more often than any vertical readers modes but every feature counts I guess.
btw Downloading as zip from mega is causing the browser to instantly crash. Win 7 x64 Ultimate and 1.14.1077.39 x64 version of Vivaldi. -

Why is that? I've seen no issues yet, myself...
-
@mossman For a start, not all settings are synced. Then the server is not always available. I am sure there are more issues. For Stable channel it should do what it says on the GUI at least most of the time.
-
I love it. And the browser seems faster in which I REALLY love.
-
I love Vivaldi so much, Jon von Tetzchner and the whole team I cannot thank you enough. Bless you all

@reddy-shyam: I delete the whole vivaldi folder in AppData (backing it up first, of course) and downloaded and installed FF and ran Vivaldi, and the same thing happened, it went to the start page instead of last session, even though it was the only extension in my new setup. I'm not upset I can't use FF, although if it made Popup My Bookmarks, Stylebot, uBlock Origin, or NoSquint Plus, I would be very upset.
