Sync is here, help us test it – Vivaldi browser Snapshot 1.14.1030.3
-
Now when I start Vivaldi the window has a 1px border until I maximize it. This is new on two machines here. Do others see this? Thank you for the new snapshot.

I updated 2 PC's and one won't display the "GO" image for my ISP's speed-test. http://speedtest.shaw.ca Could someone please test this link?
-
@jacekn: But it's no much efficent, I think that the computational cost is very big, its solution requires significant resources, this would be less optimal.
I suspect that in the future it will be possible but for now with the resources that Vivaldi has as a company I do not see it possible. -
@g_bartsch: Thank you iAn and Gwen. Without the border didn't bother me previously, and I liked it better that way, but will get used to this.
-
@g_bartsch I see the big Go on center and clicking on it the speed test runs.

My few tests with the new Sync feature:
Older profile
- Update to a regular test profile doesn't sync, I always receive this message:
GetUpdates Response
Received error: SYNC_AUTH_ERROR
Clean profiles Bookmarks test
- Testing with 2 clean profiles the bookmarks syncs in +/- 2minutes.
- Some deleted default speeddial entries keeps ghosted in the second profile.
- Creating a new Speeddial entry in P1 does not replicate the thumbnail in the P2, you have to refresh in P2 to the thumbnail appears.
These are my few tests, I'll try some more.
- Update to a regular test profile doesn't sync, I always receive this message:
-
I installed another Standalone version of Vivaldi in a new folder, and tried to sync that with my data. Login is OK, encryption password accepted, sync data downloaded OK.
Still waiting for sync data to be committed after five or ten minutes.
Got tired of waiting, so closed new instance of Vivaldi, and launched my usual one.
-
@ian-coog Thank you. It's so weird why I see it on one instance but not the other. I re-installed Flash thinking that could be the reason but it made no difference.
-
Please remove this ugly and annoying window border or add an option to turn it off. Thanks
-
When I try to login, it just hangs on logging in indefinitely. Looking at sync internals, it says SYNC_AUTH_ERROR.

To scroll with middle mouse button selects text.

@halleandert I run Vivaldi maximized but if I didn't and had to see them constantly I'd be an unhappy camper.

I don't understand the change. I never had any trouble to handle the window border without that frame. It had a shadow before - and it worked perfectly. With that white border it is pain in my eyes.
-
I initially synced without a separate sync password (my Vivaldi.net password is already randomly generated), but then I decided to follow the suggestion to have a separate password.
I cleared the sync data and ran the sync again with a new password. Now, all my data is duplicated. The Bookmarks panel has every folder twice and all the same bookmarks in each folder.
It seems that there may need to be a better mechanism for merging bookmark folders that share the same name when receiving new bookmarks from the sync.

@pesala Succeeded to commit data on a second attempt, but got an authentication error.
-
In this update, I have an ugly blue border around selected windows
How can you get rid of this?
-
@halleandert When I did run a window not in full screen I didn't have any difficulty distinguishing it from other screen elements. I hope the devs make this optional as I'm seeing unhappy people with this.
-
@jenoki It's intentional. Seems some of us would rather not have this so I would suggest asking the devs to make it optional.
-
@g_bartsch it's absurd. i have no visual impairment. i can clearly tell where the edge of my windows are. literally no other programs on my computer have this border on them.
i agree, it should absolutely be optional, and further more it should be disabled by default.
