Tab Stack Data in the "vivaldi" Object
-
@barbudo2005
We will consider whether the feature is feasible. -
We have noticed a problem with the current subdomain handling not detecting top-level domains such as
.co.jp
correctly.@Moondane
For now, we have added the ability to set the hostname to the tab stack name.
It is difficult to realize the requested functionality due to the problem of top-level domain detection. -
/edit: An update was responsible for it.
Hmm, previously it could create independent tab stacks from subdomains, let's sayblog.vivaldi.net
,forum.vivaldi.net
andvivaldi.com
, withsubdomain: true,
of course, now not anymore for some reason... I tried replacing "example.com" with "vivaldi.com" in the exclusion list for a test and reverted it back to "example.com" in the meantime. Using New Tab Position as "Tab Stack with Related Tab"here's what it looks for example, previously it was automatically placing tabs with the same domain which were opened outside of that stack back to it (inside), always keeping the view tidy. -

Each subdomain in its separate tab stack, with "subdomain: true".
The same with forum.vivaldi.net and blogs.vivaldi.net.

Thank you @barbudo2005 , I forgot that in the meantime I updated the system and together with it the browser too. Indeed it is working as expected

@nafumofu
Fixed problem with base domain not being detected properly.
Added the ability to generate stack names from the base domain. -
"Automatically change tab stack names":
1: use hostname:
2: generated from base domain:

@nafumofu
Great!
I'm afraid, as barbudo2005 says, could you open a new topic?
eg "mod: Group tabs by domain".
It's hard to find here through a forum search. -
I believe, without any mistake, that this Mod is revolutionary in the sense that it automates the management of the tabs and also has the power to offer different options that satisfy all the users' tastes.
Forget about the commands:

You are not mistaken, since they introduced "Accordion" tabs 3 years ago very little has been done in terms of improving tab management, while alternatives like the
sidebery
andtree style tabs
extensions already were showing how it is done the right (convenient, easy) way. But Vivaldi never listened and wasn't interested despite having a request thread with 280+ votes and many other threads. It's actually sad having to wait that long for a modder to appear and with his/her ~100 lines of code fixing some part of Vivaldi's unusable and untouched tab management mess. -

Automation is at the heart of why we use computers.
We use them to automate repetitive functions.
So, if a function is not automatic (when it can be) it is simply not doing its job well.

I recommend you the extension "Linguist - web pages translator", to make it easier for you to read the forum:

You obtain this:

@nafumofu Thank you so much for this lovely feature
-
@nafumofu You're definitely a legend! Thank you so much for your work/sharing it with everybody! I checked it, and at quick glance it works as expected, workspaces included.

HAHA
I have no idea what this translator is saying...
He can't speak japanese -
Sorry, my mistake.

I was going to start a thread after a little more completion as it is still unstable in some areas.
