Vivaldi Forum mod

@luetage Awkard.
Tested with osprey (stylus) and user css... still uncentered
But.. the position seems to be the same with VMod OFF.. So I fear is another NodeBB quirk. -
@luetage That looks better, but that page still looks very "busy".
Considering the dense level of information, I'm not sure of a way to solve that (the whole bottom row just looks like one long line of text)
-
@hadden89 Of course it is. I'm not fixing stuff that isn't broken But yeah, it's not an easy fix, don't know what exactly is going wrong on Vivaldi's side. You could call it a nodeBB quirk, but you won't find such problems on opera forums
-
@lonm We could specify a maximum character length for the time and just hide the overflow, but it would be a bandaid solution.
-
@luetage if you plan to fix it, maybe is better to place it as "temporary mod" (user page patch?).
When - and if - will be fixed (by Vivaldi side) users can simply uncheck the "mod" and then the option will be removed from the extension when the fix lands on the forum. -
@hadden89 No, if we did this every time, we'd have dozens of additional mods. Fixes will always be default. But I'm not gonna be releasing this, you guys seem to be fine with the bug rather than the fix, so we'll probably wait for Vivaldi to repair it. I'm gonna run it as user css in the meantime.

{"colorBg":"#000000","colorBtn":"#268bd2","colorDrop":"#000000","colorFg":"#93a1a1","colorHi":"#ff0000","colorLi":"#0080ff","colorLi2":"#0080ff","themeName":"Lobo checo"}
Save it as x.json You are / will be able to import it and use it, if you like it.
My user css:
div.menuwrapper { background-color: black; border-top-color: darkred; border-top-width: 1px; border-top-style: dotted; } #main-nav > li > a.navigation-link { color: #77bed8; } #main-nav > li.active * { color: #ff0000; background-color: black; } ul.dropdown-menu { border-color: darkred; border-width: 1px; border-style: dotted; } ul.dropdown-menu * { color: #0080ff; }

The forum has updated. It now has a native emoji picker. I'm guessing it's still a WIP, as it seems a bit borked right now (You can't see all the categories, can't drag it, etc.). Also, it seems to use a different font, except in some places where it uses the native emoji. You can't drag its button around yet.
Also the default theme has changed, and this might break some things. (Such as the mobile view).
I'm going to wait for the update to be fully complete before I start fixing anything.

@LonM thanks for your first feedback
We announced all the new features here as well.
We saw your reports on Jira as well, would you please check if the issues you reported are still happening for you now? Thanks in advance. -
This post is deleted! -
For native emoji, this is a quick dirty script, I may make something of it later:
document.querySelectorAll("img.emoji").forEach(emoji => { emoji.after(document.createTextNode(emoji.alt)); emoji.parentElement.removeChild(emoji); });
-
@LonM We have literally bigger issues right now.
-
@luetage It seems the update breaks some extension features. Some examples:
-
At the bottom of page, links to privacy policy/terms of use/chat are blank (but still «clickable»):
. -
The top of the page doesn't follow anymore my theme:
. -
If I click my avatar, I can't reach anymore the extension settings or the forum's «hidden settings».
That's all I've noticed at the moment (just access again the forum now).
I'm sure you know all of these, just hope you can do something [I don't mean right now, of course ]

@hlehyaric The update to the forum broke almost all features of VFM. Especially the themes are painful, because I feel I'm not willing to fix other people's themes again. It's obviously not their fault, but it's really painful work to do this to code you haven't written yourself. I already spent too much time on them overall.
-
@hlehyaric said in Vivaldi Forum mod:
I click my avatar, I can't reach anymore the extension settings or the forum's «hidden settings».
Both work for me, just reload your tab. That's something that didn't break.
-
@luetage I'm not talking of theme itself, I'm talking of the way the theme applies to the page, it don't encompass the whole page as before.
TBH, it seems weird right now, but it's just a question of time: I'll be accustomed to the new look tomorrow
Anyway, a big «thank you» for giving us the extension. -
@hlehyaric There's no point in getting accustomed to anything. At the moment you can't really use VFM themes. The header is completely new and there are additional dropdowns that haven't been themed obviously. I will fix it for custom themes for sure, but I don't know if I'll do it for the other themes. Right now I'd say no, but I'm also pretty pissed right now

I think I can fix getting the toolbar to have draggable buttons again . However, now if the buttons are hidden, clicking on them does nothing. I'll not consider that a massive issue, since if they're hidden, you probably weren't using them anyway .
