Vivaldi Forum mod
-
version 1.64
- mobile view fixes
- notification fixes
Originally this should have been an update targeting the mobile menus and pagination only (theming more consistent now), but as it turns out Vivaldi changed the notification setup again today. The footer-notification encapsulates site content now, therefore when it's being hidden, the content of most pages simply disappears (not all pages, the screw up isn't consistentβ¦β¦). I pushed an update that fixes this just now, but you still might encounter the issue, if your version of Vivaldi Forum mod hasn't been updated yet.

@luetage Many thanks for the quick fixes. I noticed this morning the issue with notifications and I had to disable VF Mod. Pfff, the site is so boring without the extension. So, thank again for your fast efficient reaction.
-
@hlehyaric No problem. Next time you notice an issue complain immediately, please. I only stumbled upon this by accident
-
@luetage Oh yes! Thanks a lot! Like hlehyaric, I had to disable the extension as well and it was quite a shock to get back to the standard forum layout...

Bug report: Clicking "Dismiss" on a dark pink announcement banner (the message was "Most webmail issues have been resolved. Again, sorry for the inconvenience. In case you still have some issue please contact us. Dismiss") causes some sort of data to be stored to the mod that causes the thread listing on pages such as "Categories", "Unread", "Tags", "Popular", "Users", "Groups" to vanish. It is necessary to reset the extension to be able to see the thread listing again.
-
@valiowk Which version are you using? If your version is older than 1.64, try updating it.
-
@lonm I'm using version 1.64.
-
@valiowk That's the issue of version 1.63 explained earlier. Simply reload all Vivaldi Forum tabs, or restart browser and it should be fixed.
-
@valiowk Strange. It should be fixed in 1.64.
-
@luetage I both reloaded all tabs as well as restarted the browser; neither worked.
Edit: I just noticed that v1.64 was released only a few hours ago. At the time LonM asked me to check my version, it read 1.64, but I guess it's possible that it took some time for the chrome extension to be updated, so that at the time the bug occurred, I was still on 1.63, but by the time I got around to replying to LonM, it had been updated to 1.64?
-
@valiowk Can't reproduce. I just forced the webstore update on my installation and no site content disappears, even after hitting dismiss. The only explanation is Vivaldi is somehow still using code from 1.63 in your case. Try and reinstall extension.

That's possible. Reload tabs and we will know for sure.
-
@valiowk Possibly. The chrome engine isn't very transparent about how it updates extensions.

Someone try this code please and tell me, if it looks right. I'm a little unsure if I nailed it. Just put it in User CSS to test.
/* Consistent overview users */ .users-box a > img { margin-bottom: -10px; margin-left: 10px; } .users-box .user-icon { margin-bottom: 10px; }
To see the issue just go to https://forum.vivaldi.net/users beforehand. No idea how long it's been like this.
-
@luetage Awkard.
Tested with osprey (stylus) and user css... still uncentered
But.. the position seems to be the same with VMod OFF.. So I fear is another NodeBB quirk. -
@luetage That looks better, but that page still looks very "busy".
Considering the dense level of information, I'm not sure of a way to solve that (the whole bottom row just looks like one long line of text)
-
@hadden89 Of course it is. I'm not fixing stuff that isn't broken But yeah, it's not an easy fix, don't know what exactly is going wrong on Vivaldi's side. You could call it a nodeBB quirk, but you won't find such problems on opera forums
-
@lonm We could specify a maximum character length for the time and just hide the overflow, but it would be a bandaid solution.
-
@luetage if you plan to fix it, maybe is better to place it as "temporary mod" (user page patch?).
When - and if - will be fixed (by Vivaldi side) users can simply uncheck the "mod" and then the option will be removed from the extension when the fix lands on the forum. -
@hadden89 No, if we did this every time, we'd have dozens of additional mods. Fixes will always be default. But I'm not gonna be releasing this, you guys seem to be fine with the bug rather than the fix, so we'll probably wait for Vivaldi to repair it. I'm gonna run it as user css in the meantime.
