About bug reports

Hello people,
tl;dr : Report a bug for Vivaldi, the new web browser is about 3-4 steps
- First check on the forums if there is anything related to your issue, ask for it if not. If the bug report seems relevant go on next step
- Send a bug report from this form : https://vivaldi.com/bugreport/?lang=en
You will receive a bug id into your mailbox, like VB-26929. Now your job is done. - If you want to have informations about the progress of the bug report, you can ask @Gwen-Dragon who is a forum moderator and an internal tester, or @gaelle the community manager here and also the doorkeeper between the user world and the dungeons of Vivaldi testers and programmers
- Bonus step : Check out your issue solved by matching the id like VB-26929 on changelogs, for example : https://vivaldi.com/blog/
Original post :
As it seems to be still unclear (at least to me), I would like to create a topic about bug reports on Vivaldi, and how to track them.
First I send a bug report from : https://vivaldi.com/bugreport/?lang=en
I receive then a mail that look like
Issue Collector created VB-26929:
Followed by the content of the report.I assume something like a issue is opened somewhere else but how to know if the bug is accepted, if someone works on it... etc.
It would be great to have an answer to will help people that search this topic from google.
Vivaldi can become a really powerful browser but honestly, how much time i will still try to use it if i have no idea if/when bugs will be fixed ? I think most of people that really needs Vivaldi would be up for that.

Vivaldi made a conscious choice to hide the bugtracker from the userbase. Only developers/internal testers have access to it afaik. The mail you receive is proof that your report has been submitted.
Currently the only thing you can do is search the forums for an alleged bug you found, then post about it, and if no one can give you info about it you just submit.
Don't think they will change the way they handle things in the short term, a public bugtracker has been requested many times.

Hey Gwen thank you for answering, I saw you many times on the forums and always glad to see you answering.
I just wanted to have an official topic for people like me who search from Google
Thank you very much for the feedback on VB-26929 !
I will edit first post with the informations given.

No one in other programs tells you when a bug will be fixed.
You abandon a program because the bug gets not fixed in a week oder so? Is this really your intention? Sad…I'm coming from Firefox and I spend time using Vivaldi and tracking bugs, or asking for features requests that would make me switch from Firefox to Vivaldi, or use both at least. While this browser is very promising in my point of view and considering there are some missing features / bugs that make me won't able to use it properly, I think I'm legit when I ask if something is happening on something. I have no doubt that Vivaldi team is working hard !
I already asked friends to try it, and some of them did it. I have a lot of hope on Vivaldi, that why I'm involved and try to get informations somewhere or elsewhere.
tl;dr : I just wanted to know if my bug report was accepted by humansThx Gwen

Nice tip Thx

Nice, I like the community compliant feeling.
I updated first post btw.I have a question, is the bug report id VBxxxxxx is related to the one in changelogs ?
-
@Purgator: They are identical. If you report a bug and the return email identifies a VB-number, then when the bug is reported resolved, it will be that number - UNLESS internally it has been found that the report duplicates an earlier or more inclusive bug, in which case your bug will be resolved under another number which was earlier or more accurate/inclusive.

Well thank you, I edited first post.
I also provided a link to the blog where it seems to be all changelogs, but it miss the recent ones. If anyone got a proper link i'm up to get it. -
My pleasure. I'm always up to rewrite or add anything if needed
