Don't change a name of a file if another file with the same name already exists when downloading.
// I'm talking of this "filename (1).suffix". The space makes it even worse, but also without the space this is really not what I want my my files to look like. This may be fine for when just opening, but when I download something, it would be much more likely that I would just want to overwrite an older version or something alike

@jumpsq Save As is needed so that you can save files in folders other than Downloads (or your default folder for downloads). What is really need is as I requested earlier:
@Pesala said in Feature requests for 1.9 / 1.10:
MIME Type Support
-
@Pesala As I wrote: "save as" should be the default behaviour. I see no reason for the "save" button. And if people always want to save to the same directory, they may as well just define this.
-
I wish in future Notes with customable colors and icons.
I want also a separation line like in opera 12 -
@jumpsq Then you would lose the convenience of saving directly to downloads without selecting a folder. Save As defaults to the last used folder, but you always have to confirm that choice or choose another folder. With Save, you do not need to do confirm anything.
Four buttons are needed. MIME type support would avoid that, as it can be configured to save each file type in its own default folder, or to open some types in a chosen program.
-
@pafflick It would be a massive undertaking to implement and maintain such a patch in Chromium. Don't hold your breath.
-
@Maniastern you must add only one request per reply.
-
Allow hotkeys (or mouse gestures) for stacking/unstacking tabs.
For example, I press a keyboard shortcut and the next tab to the right is stacked with my current tab. I press another shortcut and the current tab is removed from the stack.

@Pesala Maybe add an option to perform "save as" as default dialog (or at least as default choice) when downloading a file? As long as there is no links panel, downloading many files is hard enough already, and I really don't have any directory where I put downloads by default (yes, I could create a directory for vivaldi downloads and then sort the files afterwards, but filenames are a mess enough already ... and I guess we don't have to talk about the "save button"-convenience then anymore ;))
I understood that you want MIME for file handlers (-> which action to perform on which MIME type / which file extension to add to a file), or did I misunderstand you? I guess this is not closely related ...
//
Just to give you an image of my standard procedure for saving stuff without links panel: open a bunch of downloadable content in background tabs and then do them one after another. If I have to change a folder, I do this and then all the subsequent tabs will save as to this folder. And instead of just (2 Enter Enter)* key strokes [2 for Ctrl+Tab], I have to also Tab here, which is pretty inconvenient ... -
please add a speed meter in the download manager that would be a great addition !
-
please add different shapes of thumbnail for speed dial like cricle , ovals etc. shape speed dial thumbnail i think that would be a great addition
-
i think an option to download files directly on cloud( drive,drophbox etc.) would be a great addition
-
.
-
@pettern You didn't say it's impossible. I'm patient...
-
@pafflick Of course it's possible, but it'll be definitely confusing to have private tabs.

Intergrated Messenger sidebar
Just like Opera
There is no necessity! I think many users would hate this because many do not use it for example and do not want these sites by default.
At Vivaldi you can by any site! Much better!
Note: Access the Messenger site and add it to the panel. -
Be able to drag files from the downloads bar
Enable downloaded files to be selected and dragged on to normal application file targets or onto a browser tab that's set up to accept files being dropped onto it.
-
@pafflick The Classic Opera browser used to allow users to select the bookmarks they want to backup and save it into a portable file that they can rename. It would not work on notes, though.
-
Adding a button in the downloads tab that leads directly to the folder
It could be nice to add a button in the download list for each downloaded files that could lead us directly to the folder where the files are.
Instead of doing right click -> go to the folder -
