Add a button to launch current page in other browsers
-
In my old Opera v11 I had some buttons defined on the toolbar to launch the current page in IE, Firefox or Vivaldi.
Button3, "InIE"="Execute program, "iexplore", "%u", "InIE"" Button4, "InFF"="Execute program, "firefox", "%u", "InFF"" Button5, "InV"="Execute program, "vivaldi", "%u", "InV""
Is there a way of doing this in Vivaldi?

I use copy/paste. It works for all browsers and in all browsers.
-
Copy and Paste involves almost half a dozen clicks.
I guess I have posted in the wrong area then. I thought the Vivaldi users were hacking and modding this browser like with Opera of the past.
Any intelligent answers out there? Even if it is a "No, Vivaldi can't launch other applications".

I see you already figured out the best way to get such answers.
And no - Vivaldi doesn't have such a feature yet.@mallen said in Add a button to launch current page in other browsers:

To be correct you need only 4 clicks - although I think you might be faster using shortcuts.
"Ctrl + L" --> "Ctrl + C" --> "Alt + Tab" --> "Ctrl + Shift +V"But maybe the guys posting in the Vivaldi Hooks section might help you.

It takes (at least) half a dozen here:
- Right-click
- Copy page address
- Open Windows Start Menu
- Launch another browser
- Right-click on URL field
- Paste and go
Opera 12.17 can reduce that to five by combining 5 and 6 with "PageBar Open URL On MiddleClick " enabled.
I miss the OpenIn menu for testing web pages in other browsers. I usually do it like this:
- Right-click
- Copy page address
- Alt Tab to Opera 12.17 which is already open
- Middle-click on tab bar to test the page in Opera
- Right-click and open in Firefox, IE, or Opera 43.
-
This seems to do what you want.
-
@Pesala damnit... yeah I seem to have missed one step so it will be 5 for me because I assumed that you have your other browsers in your taskbar which will eliminate your step 3

@Gwen-Dragon thank you for an intelligent answer to the actual question. This is what I was looking for - just an acknowledgement that it is not a feature yet. I'm seriously time poor and not had enough time to dig deep into the customisation of Vivaldi yet. Thanks for saving me some time.
@Para-Noid @zaibon - errr... yeah... no matter how many ways you try and count the key presses there are loads of them compared with a single button of the old Opera v11 days.
I am old skool keyboard guy as it is. ALT+TAB is of no use as I currently have eight different applications open doing various tasks. That would mean multiple clicks hunting with ALT+TAB until I find the relevant browser to paste into.
I already am doing a slow combination of key presses, but more efficient steps than your suggestion as I pop in <WINKEY>+<6> or any other number of the numerous browsers I have pinned to the task bar instead of your ALT+TAB step. That is still creating a lot more work than a single button.
CTRL+L, CTRL+C, WINKEY+3, CTRL+T, CTRL+V, ENTER
There is also the issue that different browsers need different commands to focus on the URL bar and paste.
So yeah - I'll wait for the ability to add buttons to Vivaldi.
@luetage I can't work out how that link will help. I only want to launch a few specific pages in other browsers. Not all http links. The snippet of code quoted in my OP is basically saying launch this page (%u) in the named browser.
@Pesala glad to see there is someone else here who knows what I am talking about. But then I remember you from the old Opera forum days.

I'll have a bit of a read through the Hooks post when I get a chance. That is clearly the right kind of area.
