Feature requests for 1.8 / 1.9

I'd love to have a "Recently Closed Tabs" in the Web Panel. More than just the last one. Like a history page of closed tabs.
-
@SKSmith it's the trashcan on top right
-
Create Desktop Apps from Web Pages like with Chrome
This seems like it's a feature that would be perfectly suited to Vivaldi's interface and emphasis on saving time and providing users with really useful shortcuts such as this. These sorts of "custom apps" are incredibly useful, and the absence of such a feature means I have to keep Chrome desktop apps but use Vivaldi as my primary browser.
-
Perhaps a feature where there is an autohide function for the tabs and address bar when in full screen mode (F11 pressed)
Also, perhaps social media integration directly in the browser via context menu or web panel (share to Facebook, tweet to twitter); login to be done in settings
Vivaldi own themes integration and Vivaldi own unique extensions -
@zaibon doesn't work for me. Even with "close tab on double click" unchecked, double clicking closes the tab, with or without control held.
-
Allow deletion of zombie cookies and disable automatic recreation of them.
I currently cannot deal with such cookie from facebook which appears again and again (vivaldi://settings/cookies) after deletion without visiting facebook.com.
Example: today status for yesterday login:
-
Allow user defined exceptions when delete cookies (and maybe other stored data?)
Reason: some trusted website keeps user's preferences in cookies: duckduckgo.com, startpage.com. -
I forgot when that was introduced, but one can use Ctrl + Double-click to select multiple tabs from the same domain.
Otherwise, use Ctrl + Click, or Ctrl + Shift + Click to select a range of tabs.
-
@stilgarwolf I use vanilla cookies extension to automatically delete cookies for sites I'm not currently visiting.
-
@Pesala You can use "single crtl+click" to select different tabs that origin from different websites.
"Double crtl + click" has it's use in the following secanrio:
Open a few threads from this forum in different tabs and a few random tabs that have nothing to do with the vivaldiforum - now "crtl + double click" one tab that belongs to the vivaldiforum. For me it instantly selects all tabs that belong to the forum.
-
@stilgarwolf
In the meantime, you could also set up Vivaldi to delete cookies on exit, and add the trusted cookies to the white list using Site Preferences (by clicking the badge at the left of the URL, then site settings at the bottom of the popup, then manage exceptions in the cookie and local storage section).
That way, all cookies get automatically deleted when you're done, except the ones you want to keep.Note : item names translated from French UI, may be inaccurate
(I set up my Vivaldi this way, and also to block third-party cookies)
Two limits though :
- I'm unsure if it applies to local storage also (it probably does),
- It only deletes them at the end of the browsing session, not when you exit the site.
I agree the feature you requested would still be useful not to delete the trusted/white-listed storage when manually clearing data.
-
@IcePanther
I also did, but some of them are not deleted on exit, so I must delete them manually from vivaldi://settings/cookies or Menu->Tools->Clear private data.
Deleting cookies one by one works if you are patient, but deleting all means also deleting settings for duckduckgo.com and startpage.com. -
@compurandom
Thank you, I'll try it.
But a trusted browser must not rely on such options to deal with privacy/security issues. -
@Pesala Jep, sorry saw your answer too late so I posted my explanation anyway ^^
-
@compurandom
Vanilla cookies is not working (for me, with Vivaldi-64, at least): simply it does not delete unwanted cookies (and does not show it's icon in taskbar). -
The ability to move the Downloads button.
-
@compurandom You have to check "Enable Tab Selection" in vivaldi://settings/tabs/, under "Tab Selection" group. Then it should work as @zaibon described.
-
@stilgarwolf Do you block 3rd party cookies? If not, then cookies from domains you've never visited will keep reappearing...

@henrypijames said in Feature requests for 1.8 / 1.9:
Download speed is kind of an important piece of information.
I do not see it that way. It's unlikely to be accurate, and knowing the speed does nothing whatever to speed up the download. A rough estimate from the progress bar is more than enough. Just start a download, then get on with something else.
A warning if a download is still running when you try to exit might be useful.
@CheVe11e_191 said in Feature requests for 1.8 / 1.9:
Warning when you try to close the browser when is running download on background.

@pafflick
I assume the customization can be done by editing the css/javascript files, but if you can make this more accessible to the common user like the old opera had, that would be terrific.
