We will be doing maintenance work on Vivaldi Translate on the 11th of May starting at 03:00 (UTC) (see the time in your time zone).
Some downtime and service disruptions may be experienced.
Thanks in advance for your patience.
Feature requests for 1.8 / 1.9
-
The ability to move the Downloads button.
-
@compurandom You have to check "Enable Tab Selection" in vivaldi://settings/tabs/, under "Tab Selection" group. Then it should work as @zaibon described.
-
@stilgarwolf Do you block 3rd party cookies? If not, then cookies from domains you've never visited will keep reappearing...

Download speed is kind of an important piece of information.
I do not see it that way. It's unlikely to be accurate, and knowing the speed does nothing whatever to speed up the download. A rough estimate from the progress bar is more than enough. Just start a download, then get on with something else.
A warning if a download is still running when you try to exit might be useful.

Warning when you try to close the browser when is running download on background.

@pafflick
I assume the customization can be done by editing the css/javascript files, but if you can make this more accessible to the common user like the old opera had, that would be terrific. -
@pafflick Don't forget exporting any UI customizations we may have made. Obviously, this includes settings like color scheme and whether or not we've disabled fast-forward/rewind (just as an example). It also hopefully would include backing up the css/javascript files that style the browser in case we've made direct edits to change the browser appearance. The latter sort of depends on how the Vivaldi team wants to approach browser UI customization going forward (i.e. keep it in css files vs some proprietary solution).

@redlap This actually is possible right now but only via rightclick the tab you want "Bookmark Tab".
Sadly there is no shortcut or mouse gesture option for this at the moment. -
@redlap said in Feature requests for 1.8 / 1.9:
Why not use that in combination with moving the mouse up and down to zoom in and out?
Because if you release the MMB it enables fast scrolling.
Hold down the control key to zoom in/out.

@pafflick
I did. No success.
It may be not a bug, but a (forever tracking) "feature" in Chromium by Google. -
@stilgarwolf It's just that one cookie from Facebook that keeps reappearing regardless of whether you visited that site or not, or are there some cookies from other non-visited websites as well? I don't know if that would solve your problem, but I use Privacy Badger to block social plugins and other trackers on the websites that I visit...

uMatrix
uMatrix does not work with Vivaldi: options are not visible.
-
@stilgarwolf rightclick the extension icon --> choose options
-
@stilgarwolf works perfectly fine for me since a long time
-
Mark broken / successful downloads.
In case when Vivaldi know exactly the size of file being downloaded it should indicate somehow when download has failed / finished cleanly.
Currently it is impossible to distinguish the case when for example the server broke connection just by looking on file size...
It would be really helpful feature. -
@pafflick
Yes, is just that one, set last time I logged on facebook.
I'm using Privacy Badger also.
My post is merely a bug submission and a suggestion for chromium code (privacy related) audit. -
@zaibon
Thanks, it works. -
@Pesala This is being worked on as we speak

Knowing you have a problem is the first step to fixing it.
If the download is slow, you can see that from the progress bar without having to measure it with a measuring device that's about as useful as a tape measure made of elastic.
-
@henrypijames Take it easy friend, there is a high demand for such feature and it will certainly come. For now, you can just use the vivaldi://downloads page to monitor the download speed.
-
@henrypijames said in Feature requests for 1.8 / 1.9:
Have you just satirized your own argument?
No, I haven't. You can see that it is slower than expected by the lack of progress after a minute or less. You don't need to know exactly how slow to decide that you need to try an alternative method.
