Feature requests for 1.8 / 1.9

@Pesala
I think that regex is best way.
=> Add support for regex in "Find in Page" -
Dark mode for Reader View.
-
@wailord If you think so, vote for dLeon's suggestion.
I disagree. It's too complex and harder for ordinary users.
-
@Firlej Please make only one request per post so that users can vote for it.
- Was already made Feature requests for 1.8 / 1.9 so you can upvote that one
- That's the point of a search field: to be able to select different search engines
- Use the URL field if you prefer to use keywords.
-
@Pesala What?
"Use the URL field if you prefer to use keywords." ?
Lol, maybe i should use another browser than?
The point is, i want use keywords in search bar, like in Opera, so i made my request. If you prefer other way, don't read my comments. -
@Firlej: I know you've gotten a lot of "helpful hints" today about how and where to post, and you're probably feeling a little set-upon. This will pass.
Technically tho, in your screen grab of your earlier feature request, you have made 3 requests in a single comments- and since this thread is set up to receive votes-per-request, they really need to be 3 separate comments:
one comment requesting the selection drop-down opens when you go to type in the textbox;
another comment requesting an auto-complete dropdown for the search box in addition to the address field;
a third comment requesting the ability to manage the order of your search engines (a request that's been made a lot, and will eventually be introduced.)
Don't want to be a buzzkill, and I know you'll get this sorted, but please make one comment per request, one request per comment in this thread. Thanks a ton.

Context Menu
Move Inspect to the bottom.
Because it's annoying to go fullscreen instead of inspecting an element. -
When Creating a New Bookmark Ability to Create a New Folder
When I click the bookmark icon to bookmark a page, I would like to be able to create a new folder to place that bookmark into, rather than having to go my bookmarks ahead of time to create to folder for it.
Also, just like now, all new bookmarks should be bookmarked into the previously used folder.
-
@leandrobonato: Private browsing it at Menu/File/New Private Window.
-
Ability to see ALL history in new History in the Making Page
Currently, the History in the Making Page has buttons for Today, Week, Month. Please add one more button for All, which will show all history rather than trying to have to remember how old is my oldest history.
-
Mute and remember
Something like black list of sites (by domains) from which user never wants to hear sound.
-
@leandrobonato said in Feature requests for 1.8 / 1.9:
- Innovation of the browser: as I really liked this browser and recommended to some friends of mine to use and who also liked the browser vivaldi, we have a very serious problem currently in the company where I work, for example, here in Brazil banks have a feature called You need to have this software installed on your computer, but it is very slow, there are many problems when updating the browser and / or versions of Java, so I thought because the browser Of you do not automatically download and then perform all necessary updates automatically without the need for an administrator login on the machine? Is it possible to develop such a tool?
Thank you!
This already exists.
Hit Ctrl-Shift-N
Or Click the Menu / File / New Private Window -
Option to choose which hotkey should be overridden when Vivaldi and the webpage have the same hotkey (page hotkeys overrides Vivaldi hotkeys or vice versa)
Currently in such situation both hotkeys are triggered, e.g. in some text editors Ctrl+B will bold the text and will open bookmarks in Vivaldi at the same time.
-
@Hadden89 I assume you're talking about hibernating them? You can achieve that already - all you need to do is to Enable Tab Selection in vivaldi://settings/tabs/ (uncheck "Include Active Tab in Initial Selection"), hold the
[CTRL]
key (or[⌘ CMD]
on MacOS) and double-click on one of the tabs containing the domain from which you'd want to suspend all tabs from. This will select all tabs with that domain (though for some reason it won't select pinned tabs unfortunately). If one of them is the one that you're currently viewing, then switch to another tab (with a different domain). Now select "Hibernate x Background Tabs" from the context menu. This should suspend tabs by domain. -
@Firlej Unfortunately, there seems to be a regression since 1.6 in the Search Bar. In 1.6 you were able to select search engine with the keyboard shortcuts derived from search engines names (usually the first letter) - not the ones you defined yourself. Now it's impossible to use even those keyboard shortcuts. That's a bummer.
Let's hope they'll do something about it...

-
@O_D_P It's already on the list.
-
@dLeon I'm pretty sure this request asks for the same functionality.
-
@Asmodeous You're not the only one.
-
@Sonic72 This is a browser for old Opera users, where the default is to go fullscreen at the bottom of the menu.
I already posted a request to edit all menus, not only the page context menu. Then everyone can be happy.
