Engine update - Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1.5.638.3
-
There is a problem in this version with Disqus. It takes ages to open and it's very-very difficult to log-in!
Update Problem solved! An extension caused it! Sorry! -
Yeah, something like that. Actually I'm considering the current features, when, for example, you RMC (sorry for the typo above) or press Ctrl+D in a page and the pop up that already appears when you click on the icon in address bar would appear the same way. Then you would set the bookamark up as you wish. But your ideas are like a extension to this, very nice.
Other thing is still missing related to this feature is, during the bookmark process, we can add and delete folders, move and rename them, all inside that pop up window (or whatever feature they may make). I hope it is in their plans for a medium term at least…

The disappearing cursor is a known issue.
-
But what program are you using to see the processes? What I just described is just for Process Explorer… Have you tried it?
-
At last we have "Search with"! Nice work! What would be even greater, however, is if we could invoke it with a shortcut (like in old Opera) - select text, press key to show menu, press another key to search with an engine.

Hi. I just discovered a reproducible crash with Vivaldi 1.5.633.3 on OS X 10.11.6. (I'm posting here since it’s still the most current snapshot available.)
I was editing my current theme and wanted to change the Highlight colour to something that was as close to native as possible. I clicked on the Show system color picker icon, then selected Color Palettes / Developer / selectedMenuItemColor.
Selecting any colour from the Developer palette triggers an immediate crash. The other colour palettes work fine; so do the other sections of the Color Picker that I’ve tried so far.
Here’s an excerpt from the Diagnostic Report:
Crashed Thread: 0 CrBrowserMain Dispatch queue: com.apple.main-thread
Exception Type: EXC_BAD_INSTRUCTION (SIGILL)
Exception Codes: 0x0000000000000001, 0x0000000000000000Application Specific Information:
Crashing on exception: *** -colorSpace not valid for the NSColor NSNamedColorSpace System selectedMenuItemColor; need to first convert colorspace. -
Yes, yes: good ideas. I too hope they pour lots of love into bookmarks eventually. I am managing presently but this is the area I need advancements more than others because I am an organizer.

Something else just happened on a 2nd PC running the lastest Vivaldi 32 Snapshot (also Win7/64bit). The session + most extensions crash when launching the golf game Shotonline from Gamescampus.com.
Now they use GameGuard NProtect, that could be regarded rootkit-ish, however while that particular game is running I can't browse the internet any more. Strangely e.g. the latest Opera works, IE as well.
I disabled/removed/downgraded my Comodo firewall in which I first only disabled the FW itselt and then their HIPS (some heuristic, anti-this, anti-that, shellcode injections etc.). No change.
So there are workarounds for the meantime while I'll observe further. -
Yes, procexp and taskmgr. Very strange.
It's installed in %localappdata%\Vivaldi\ as well. -
Yeah, very strange… Does it look like this?

Posted to wrong blog thread.

Like this:
I updated it, it closed all processes and created the new folder and new_vivaldi.exe but it didn't remove vivaldi.exe as it was in use by system somehow. There were no vivaldi.exe processes running, the only thing I found was when using OpenedFilesView.
The system process is hooking it now too (when closed), so it's doing something that won't release it. -
You do know that this is not a release, right?

Vivaldi do not find my Google Cast (ChromeCast 2015) when i right click on a web page and click on "stream". I click on the help link but only an empty page appears. Only if i open the link via context menu (right click) the help link opens normally.
System info:
Windows 10 Pro x64
Vivaldi 1.5.638.3 (x64)I hope you can fix it. Thank you. Cheers

Hi, xyzzy, I've looked into the crash, and found that this is a Chromium issue, if you could report a bug on the issue to them, that would help
Thanks
-
Hi, HalleAndert, the issue has been confirmed and reported as VB-22168, look for that number in future blogposts for the fix
Thanks for the report!

Okay, I'm going to need some help with this. Vivaldi backtraces can be a bit hard to read sometimes because it's a mix of Vivaldi and Chromium code (among other frameworks) with symbols stripped. However, as far as I can tell, this is definitely originating from "Vivaldi Framework" (and your own Settings / Preferences UI code) as it's invoking the NSColor routines.
FYI, the "Developer Palette" is unique in that it consists of "System Colors" which require some special handling. They're generic colour names whose actual values change depending on what the Appearance is set to (Blue or Graphite) in System Settings. The colours can't be used directly and must be converted or else your code will crash.
However, if you are borrowing some code from Chromium, I can only report it as a bug if I can can trigger it from Chrome/Chromium, which I can't find a way to do.
Thanks.

Thank you very much.

Sorry to say, but after using Vivaldi as my primary browser for months now, I have gone back to Chrome. The performance difference is very noticeable.
I'll keep an eye on updates. I do think you need to think about halting the release of new features and concentrate on core performance and bug fixes.
Cheers

Am I the only one that has noticed an increasing occurrence of element focus bugs in this build? In some cases the blue border around an input field or a textarea is missing (or goes missing after it worked already) as is the blinking caret. I can still type, move the invisible cursor and modify the text as usual, but any visual cues of that page interaction are missing. Plus it also breaks events or javascript (like pressing enter to search for example). If this happens, the one workaround is to switch between tabs, then it is back to normal again. Edit: just read up on the comments and it seems I'm not the only one. Good.
