Snapshot 1.5.609.8 - Chromium update, bug fixes and Web Panel improvement
-
Page actions rearrange or sort randomly. I use readability most of the time and at sometimes it's at the top of the list. I don't think this is how it's suppose to be.
-
Page actions are sorted alphabetically: from Content Blocker at the top to Transitions Removed at the bottom. It's not random.
-
Whenever I start Vivaldi after a cold reboot, I have to reset it as the default browser. Then the speed dial starts with blank tabs. I open a new speed dial and the thumbnails appear. I then close the one with blank thumbnails.
I use the standalone install on an encrypted drive, so Windows cannot find it when it starts up.
-
Mine gets sorted randomly.
-
Okay, this definetly exceeds my knowledge ^^
Maybe you want to file a bugreport on https://vivaldi.com/bugreport -
It does?? I have to click the Vivaldi icon twice to make it open up again. Why this bug hasn't be fixed?? Ah~~
-
Don't remember previous builds but this is really slow, i tied of this and measured start time: Chrome 53 takes 1,8 sec and Vivaldi takes 11,4 sec
windows 10 64 bit + intel ssd -
Hm. Vivaldi takes 3 sec. here. So does Chrome.
-
hmm, Edge - less than 2 sec, firefox - about 2 sec. I'll try reinstall and new 1.4
-
If so, install it in a new location, standalone, or rename your Profile ("Default") folder first. Any delays are almost certain to be caused by something in your profile.
-
It appears to have more than one cause, and affects different systems differently. Some of the causes have been found and fixed, and some other still elude the developers. At this point, it is now very difficult to replicate.

Win 7 64, Viv 32, T 9400 2 core Older Micron SATA SSD, guessing DDR2
I have 20 tab at start takes about 10 sec. to load from all flushed out system, checked by MS process Explorer. There are so many systems speedier than mine and I can wait. It's hard for me to understand how impatient people are! Are they really going to die in another 8 seconds and if so WHAT are they going to get done….GEE......they aren't launching rockets where milliseconds matter etc.

I've still got the perennial disk churning from the Top Sites file. Sometimes all my speed dials disappear then start updating, very very slowly. I'm getting tired of this. All is handled SO much better than 6 months ago I imagine other gains will be had can wait.
Process explorer shows absolutely no I/O or disk action at all on mine. Even when I had over 200+ tabs ( stupid I know, few open) nothing was thrashing. So my guess system or setup. Been a fairly long time since I've redone profile also..so I'm pleased. Seems to me Viv is getting thrashed also.
Addendum:
After posting this and watching process explorer for awhile my specs.
Right after left blog I had some 30K and 64 K hits on disk then ONCE ONLY it went to 6,200 K or so then 2400 K then after settling down to 64K or below again. I noticed that some of my network inquiries were almost the same and size so I figure it is pings from other IP or such. May be wrong but I'd bet.
You can hover over long graph on MS PE and some were instantaneous Viv and a BIG spike was Opera M2 Mail request. My suggestion is to download MS Process explorer watch it and find out actually where these disk requests are actually coming from INSTEAD OF USING THE SUPER TECHNICAL DRIVE LIGHT ANALYSIS. In the long run it would help everyone more. Just trying to be helpful not saying you don't have a problem. I'm sure you know more than, I just on old codjer doing it the old slow way.PS: Just examined PE no big spikes a few Viv, but most Writes called " system:4" which I have no idea what that is! All are under 64k bye and quite a few..wouldn't call it thrashing though.
-
Thank the inside explanation, but does Chrome has similar problem?? The last time I used it,it doesn't.
-
Feature Request:
I would love if your color invert filter didn't invert images. I just looks very ugly and in most cases it isn't needed. Just take a look at Deluminate on the Chrome Web Store. It does the job very well, and you can adjust it right from a button. https://goo.gl/03kNjV -
That is already the "Filter Invert" works. Only text and the page background are inverted, whereas images remain the same.

Vivaldi is not Chrome. It's built from an entirely different kind of technology. The only thing they share is the rendering engine, and this problem is in the UI layer of the browser.
-
[BUG]: Not working delete theme from Scheduled Themes
https://cl.ly/0X0W2Q1T1h3x
Reported under VB-21738 -
This update seems to have broken the standard size for opening new websites.
It is always set to 80% but the settings are set to 120%.
(80% is the ui size for me. Maybe it has something to do with this)
Is anyone else having that problem? -
When adding a page to the speed dial the thumbnail is still not changeable. This is one of the things that Opera is doing better till this date! I really would like to see that Vivaldi adopts a functionality like it.
When you add a page to speed dial in Opera you can scroll and drag the image of the page in the little window until you like what you see. With this method you can always get the relevant information of the page in the thumbnail. Just a little image of the whole page doesn't make thing more intuïtieve!
