Snapshot 1.5.609.8 - Chromium update, bug fixes and Web Panel improvement
-
Hi,
don't know if it's really the good place to report issues, but when you use the main menu and not the Vivaldi button, if you open a menu like "File" and switch to "Edit" using the mouse, the menu act like you didn't change : "File" is kept open and "Edit" menu doesn't show. Is it a normal behavior or a bug ? Or maybe something that should be configurable ?
I'll try to make Vivaldi my main browser now. -
Win7 64, 32 Bit Viv
What OS etc. are you using my works fine..not a problem and if it was it would be big enough that all would be yelling…I'd look for something else not unless I'm mis understanding.
Mine switches fine. -
It's a known bug, already reported several times no doubt as several have mentioned it on the forums. The menus work fine on the button, but not on the Browser Menu Bar.
-
Opera users complain bitterly of the spam speed dials all the time. But then, Opera is in the advertising business.
-
I know it's a bit late, but would "Lazy Load Restored Tabs" make more sense in the Tabs section of the settings?
-
I don't think so. The main reason to use or not use it is to affect startup speed.
-
I see. That makes sense, then.
-
Thanks for the confirmation (Pesala too) and thanks for the information / link.
2 main issues for me to use Vivaldi currenly (I'm with "stable" 1.4, maybe snapshots are stable too ?) :- no context menu on extension icons (very problematic with the OneTab extension)
- I use tabs on the left (thanks for this <3), interface to 110% (high DPI & system kept at 100%), and :
– drag&drop seems to be tricky sometimes, same to stack using drag&drop
-- moving many tabs between windows doesn't seems to work every time (had orphan tab, then stuck tabs & not reloadable)
-- when you stack many tabs (>30) & you want to do something with them, the preview of all tabs takes all the screen, so you can't do what you wanted
-- you can't reorganize stacked tabs, like using stack preview
-- maybe the stacked tab dual view option could allow to dual view only 2 (ou x) of all the stacked tab, with a way to easily switch (with scroll button?), like 1|2, 2|3, 3|4, .. ?

I observe the problem only with <a>tags with "target" set to "_blank".
Regular links ("_self") work fine with all mouse buttons.
To check other "target" values I wrote a simple HTML page, saved it to my drive and then opened in Vivaldi - all links were OK.
But links in real web pages with target="_blank" do not work even with left mouse button only (without ctrl).</a> -
Thank you for Lazy Load Restored Tabs option!

For now, see "Page Actions." When all of the compatibility problems of reading mode in Chromium can be overcome, we may see an even better solution here.
-
Wouldn't it be better if we had 'add to' or 'send to' (bookmarks, start page, readabilty) to the context menu, or - even better - customize the context menu by manipulating the incorporated options?
-
There's some talk of a more discoverable readability button. The context menu will continue to evolve.
-
Can the start page also be set as the home page?
-
vivaldi://startpage
-
Does anyone notice with the specific mouse gesture that entire browser would shut down abruptly?? It's really annoying.
-
Save vivaldi://startpage as your homepage.
Edit: Sorry for the same answer. Didn't see the 1st one. -
You can use extensions like Context Menu Search till feature will implemented.
-
Thanks. That works well.
-
Thanks!
