Snapshot 1.2.490.32 - Vivaldi 1.2RC1
-
@Ayespy: It is not really always that long. It very much depends on the bug and many factors, but some bugs get reported in one snapshot and fixed just for the next one. One thing for sure - there is always plenty to work on and improve, so not everything can be addressed immediately. But reminding about bugs here on the blog is fine.

I did all that. Every other browser works fine in combination with G-Sync.
I even analyzed stacktraces of multiple browsers to figure out what they do different, when they go to fullscreen, but from what i can see, they are all using the directmanipulation API (https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/dn423904(v=vs.85).aspx) to handle their window transitions, but that's not the problem.
Interestingly enough I'm able to start child processes that do have the g-sync problem and child processes that don't have them, running under the same host process. So it has nothing to do with the overall host process.
It has something to do with the GPU acceleration and the fact, that the nVidia driver is recognizing GPU accelerated processes as games if they are run in fullscreen mode. That's at least my guess. Netflix and a couple of other apps had the same problem.
I'm just wondering if that's the case with freesync monitors as well. I imaging, that the driver has to work very similar.PS:
I also tried forcing my system to use a fixed framerate but this also didn't work.

@mozzer: I confirm VB-10968, however I cannot confirm VB-12797 and VB-12798. I have reported myself the same bug as VB-12798 but I cannot reproduce it anymore.
So please retest. If it still happens, maybe you have some extension, which causes such behaviours. To be sure, please try on a fresh profile/installation.

Have you reported it maybe? What are the bug numbers?
-
I love this browser
-
Just FYI, i've also reported this some time ago, and that issue can be closed as well when the bug is fixed.
VB-13488

I totally agree. I just don't think surprise or indignation at the durability of some bugs is necessarily warranted.
Some will be trivial to fix, and some like moving heaven and earth.
No one should be shocked if their pet bug is still here. I couldn't understand for the first five or six builds the pin/stack tab regression was present (though I never got strident about it), but I had to get used to the idea it's either really tough, or really unimportant, to fix. To be frank, the only reason I even responded to that comment was the exclamation point - indicating the user is amazed that they still exist. Amazement is probably not realistic.

An mosquito-sized bug that's been zizzzing around for a while and is probably related to all the bigger, numbered, bugs being swatted around the Blog today:
Saving the Backup settings for some Extensions like uBlock-O always puts the file in the default download directory with no "Save As…" prompt.
Windows 7 and 10 x64 | Vivaldi x64 and x86
-
Not two different issues they are the same, just separate bug reports I made.
They were on different occasions about different snapshots, since it never got fixed, I though you never saw them so I reported again.Sorry for the noise didn't mean to be disrespectful, and thanks for acknowledging this.
Keep up the great work -
This seems to be another symptom of the download bugs talked about above, some downloads never trigger the Save As dialog to prompt for a folder or save location.
Some I've gathered are:TiddyWiki saves using the "Save" button on the top right
Chrome extension to save Single file HTML (I think it stopped working entirely on latest snapshots a while ago)
Download SVG's from the Vivaldi Logo under Media Viewer > Download This File > Download Original from Wikimedia Media Viewer
Apparently also downloads from Mega
And now you also report saving settings file from extensionsHope it gets fixed after the 1.2 release.

Thanks for fixing the quick commands in a new tab issue (VB-17432). That's been driving me nuts for a couple updates. Great work, team Vivaldi.

I found your original bug report VB-16349 on the bug-tracker, and I added the additional info from your post here. I'm going to give this a whirl on my brother's computer at some point this week (he has an NVidia card) and see if I can confirm.
I'm also going to add the info from your comment to the bugtracker entry right now and mention it to the devs tomorrow.

Ayespy, the reason why some tab-related bugs (and others) might not be fixed in some of these versions until later 1.x's is that some of the code (for instance, tab code) is undergoing a major overhaul. Jon himself told us today that it had to be substantially rewritten in order to support dragging tabs between and out of windows, so when this overhauled code ends up in a snapshot, your pet regressions may no longer even be relevant (although they'll probably replaced with new and fun bugs to find and smush).
-
The per-domain download feature is a suggested feature by a few of the sopranos and myself on the bugtracker, and we even added a request to be able to add Regexp conditions for sorting as well, checking things like filetype, source website, etc, so we have it in mind.
-
Tab-related bugs, huh? That at least gives me hope, because I've had this bug on and off with opening new tabs with "next to active" set, where they flicker at the end of the tab bar and then show up next to my current tab. But if they're going to rewrite the entire tab code to include dragging tabs, then this gives me hope that this bug will go away.
-
Something like 100kb could come from some of the new stock backgrounds included in the later builds, no?
-
Hey - I'm in no hurry at this point. If pinned tabs still can't be stacked or a stack of tabs can't be pinned a year from now, I'll bring it up again. I'll do the same for the fact that it's still not possible to place the bookmark bar vertically at one side of the UI. But I will not be shocked or surprised if time goes by while the world remains less than perfect from my own point of view. I know every bug fixed at one end of the browser can create another at the other end. It's job security for the developers. They will ALWAYS have something to do!

Anyone in favor for supporting beforescriptexecute events in Vivaldi, like they do with Firefox?
-
thanks
Super Cool
when come Vivaldi M3 ? -
A prevalent rumor, which it is impossible to verify, is that it's hoped for by the end of the year.
