No time to rest. Vivaldi 1.1 is here with enhanced tab handling, better hibernation and more!
-
Congratulations to release 1.1. I very much appreciate your work.
(Though I'm still a bit longer on "hold-out" until M3 arrives.)
-
I can do it with
.tab-position .tab .close {order:-1 !important;}
.tab-position .tab:hover.tab:not(.button-off) .favicon{display:none}I'm fine using custom CSS files, but it's rather finicky having to keep it up to date every time the browser is updated. I would hope one day internal UI customization would include more options to this effect.

So, how does one upgrade from 32-bit Vivaldi to 64-bit Vivaldi on Windows 10? I don't see any link for 64-bit for this version 1.1. Wonderful browser! (This from an Opera user since Opera v.6.)

I am about to try 1.1. The version 1 release is the only one that has stuck for me so far, at least I haven't found a reason to stop using it yet. Before that, I kept wanting to use Vivaldi as my primary browser, because I love the concept. I love that it is Chromium based and has lots of settings. I would just stick to Chrome, but they hate settings for some reason. Before now I would try new versions of Vivaldi occasionally, use them for a little while, run into too many bugs, and get sick of the bugs.

Punnymoon,
Go to the Vivaldi Download page and pick the version and OS you want to use:-

Oh my God! "Activate Tab to the right" when closing a tab has made it into this version!
You guys are awesome! Thank you so much for listening! -
I like your idea but I think symbols or icon may make it messy when there are a lot of tabs. My suggestion would be colored tab-borders, still no perfect solution but color won't mess with the tab-close button. ; )

Chrome also seems to not really care about the settings it does have. There are constantly new versions of it coming out and every time I have to go back and disable smooth scrolling all over again (the "feature" that makes your browser laggy). But I don't immediately think to do this when a new version gets installed. I just use the browser and then get really annoyed with how laggy it is, and then suddenly realize smooth scrolling is on again, and then get even more annoyed… I like the way you people care about preferences.

I need help:
1. Silent installation option for hundreds of PCs at a time.
2. Turn off or control updates so they only occur when we dictate and download from your site.
3. Someone to join us in maintaining this update process for all users, so that:
a. Updates occur on one of several schedules: When released, when tested for about a week, or in developer mode, any number of schedules.
b. any changes that would desirable to all users, or a group of select users' policies dictate.
(Using our platform, we do installation and updates for one, or hundreds of PCs with or without Administrator privileges, make community recommended system changes, operated when user is logged in or not, all rules and software are dictated by expert contributors, certified by our company, subject to user's immediate feedback in each app to make immediate changes and improvements.) -
Duh! Thanks, 3Phase. I was looking at the wrong page.

Looks like the reason this build will not install on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS is just a packaging bug. One of the dependencies is listed with too high a version number. I made a quick test repack if you are feeling adventurous. It should install and run if I have done it right but I must admit I have not even tested it myself yet, cause I am using a Mac as I write this.

Note: This package is not official (despite me being an employee of Vivaldi), just a very quick and dirty test repack I did at home, from my Wife's Mac. If you use it and it blows up your system, on your own head be it!

Thanks for amazing browser! I'm using Vivaldi on my 4K display with 150% DPI (Vivaldi 32bit, Windows 7 64bit, AMD Radeon HD7770). The Vivaldi UI and text is little bit blurry but I'm fine with it (waiting for fix). I just noticed interesting thing: If I start Vivaldi and then I will start installation of (new) graphic card driver, during the installation display blink (as always) and after that blink the UI and text is suddenly nice and sharp (until restart of Vivaldi).

What is the build number for this release? I'm using the snapshot, and am on 435.43 (1.1RC3), but the changelog linked above seems to include a lot more changes than just frorm 435.42 (which is what's listed in that link as Vivaldi 1.0). Just curious.
EDIT: I see a similar question asked and answered earlier, disregard this.

hi, vivaldi team!
i actually have no complaints, no feature requests – i'm, like, REALLY happy with this browser! mad browser love
for work, i'm required to use ie, firefox, and chrome; at home, i test/use those plus opera, brave, and yandex. in terms of memory use, performance on all types of page loads, including multimedia, and stability, vivaldi is far ahead/far superior.
thanks so much! -
Yay! Fine work, flokes!
Interesting behavior:
Removing a file from the Downloads Panel does remove the file entry in the Downloads page at vivaldi://downloads .Removing a file from the Downloads page does not remove the file entry in the Downloads Panel.
I can't decide if it's a bug or a feature with seniority.
The "Save As" feature is broken for Extensions. The "Save As" dialog box for backing up/exporting Extension settings comes up but always saves the file to the Default Download path.
Toggling the "Always Save to Default Download Location" in the dialog box just removes the "Save As" option and un-checking the box in the Vivaldi Settings | Downloads restores the broken "Save As" feature.
The Import dialog box works correctly for Extensions to pick the location and file to restore settings.

Awesome on the 1.1 release! Can't wait to see what 1.2 release holds. Do you think we could have a vertical tab list cycler like O12, where I can customize the keyboard shortcuts, and even use right-click scroll without having scroll on tab bar enabled? That would be awesome. Another thing I'd like to see is to have the mouse cursor disappear during fullscreen videos.
Other than that, and a lot of polishing of what we've already got, performance/UI improvements, RAM/CPU improvements, and we've got ourselves an amazing browser!

Are the experimental Vivaldi M5 e-mail memory engrams beginning to kick in or is the web site slightly more confused than usual?
For some reason when I refreshed this Comment page after posting a comment, Vivaldi put up a warning box at the top of the page that says:
Note
SMTP Error: Could not authenticate. The only things I have right now for e-mail in Vivaldi is a couple of SpeedDial entries for regular and extra-crispy Vivaldi Webmail. To give credit where credit is due, not one single SpeedDial thumbnail has changed or disappeared for the last couple of months unless I intentionally refreshed it. Top Sites is a svelte 41MB.
Edit: Sorry about spamming the e-mail notification list. I logged in to Vivaldi Webmail and it warned me about an expired session. The SMTP notice no longer appears at the top of this page.
Edit the Edit: The bogus SMTP notice is back again. Woohoo!

Or maybe Vivaldi can provide .torrent links along with download files?

I loved the millions reference. So Vivaldi is growing well. More will follow. Then profits begin. Then Vivaldi can increase their resources and further improve and evolve. It will snowball hopefully. It's great.
