Snapshot 1.0.418.3 - Focusing on individual requirements, not statistics
-
Thanks a lot for your continuous efforts to give us a browser that adopts to our individual requirements rather than the other way 'round. From my very first experience with Vivaldi ("ugh, they don't really colour their UI in glowing red, do they?") until now, you've really achieved a lot, and I'm more than happy you don't intend to follow the common trend.
A small UI glitch I noticed since some versions but failed to report so far is regarding the "minimize" button on Windows 10. With a (dark) UI scale set to 80% (my default), the minimize button seems to be empty; it is clickable and working all right, but due to the scaling, the horizontal line is not shown at all.
-
I install every single update hoping that this time hotkeys will finally work regardless of the active keyboard layout. But they still don't.
-
I am aware of that feature, but it will require a redesign of the menus. That will not happen until after 1.0
-
bookmark in bookmark bar folder still need right click context menu

You can configure the cache directory using command line options. I've set up a ramdisk-drive (as V:) and added the following to my Vivaldi-shortcut:
–disk-cache-dir="v:\cache" --disk-cache-size=10485760
This limits the cache to 10MB and puts it on drive V:. I don't like disk-cache all too much and especially with a SSD it might be advantageous not to write the cache to the semi permanent storage. -
When adding a Speed Dial, please make it so the URL field accept URLs without the http:// prefix.
Also would love if it supported "middle click scroll" on Linux. -
You can do that by Ctrl+click (or Cmd+click on Mac). But you want this by just using the mouse?
-
Well i have retired bookmarks bar but i can only fit 6 speed dials on 1024x768 resolution, with new Opera 36 i can do almost 16 speed dials that counts disabling search box also with advanced options. Can you make speed dials smaller and in 16:9 format that would be great, thanks.

If you can allow resizing of tiled tabs, that will good enough IMO. It's already pretty useful for the most common scenarios, two tabs tiled vertically to save space, or the same tab in two horizontally tiled panels
-
Yes, that would be another step.
Cheers,
Jon. -
Performance is clearly high on our list. This works fine for most already, but we will continue to improve everywhere possible until it meets your requirements and then some.
Cheers,
Jon. -
What I really miss is search autocomplete. Any plans for that?
-
Instead of clicking the mouse button SX uses the middle mouse button, so you're able to use only the mouse.
-
We have added support for Ctrl, Shift and Middle click on bookmarks bar items
Oh boy! I asked about this a while ago! Thank you!
-
Oh my! How could I miss that!
Thank you knoelli for pointing me in the right direction. That's what keeps me coming here for more. There are very knowledgeable people around, willing to help and expose new ideas. Thank you again.

Thank you, folks!
Today, the "Remember me" checkbox remembered me. Yay!
The 'Enter' key closes the editor when adding or editing a Bookmark description and the Up/Down Arrow keys don't move the cursor.
The Downloads Panel list sorting needs some work:-

Gee… just gets better and better. I'm permanently over to Viv now. Each build seems faster, more stable and bugs taken care of good work. Thanks
Previous build: I had some problems with dropdown NOT asking to save passwords and sometime filling them in don't know about this build yet. Sill looking for master password for password file I surmise that file is encrypted. Thanks

In light of this open and refreshing spirit at Vivaldi ;), what is the best way for me to request a feature?
-
Great to see that the Vivaldi management understood why the real Opera was so beloved among power users.
The only thing i'm still missing from that time: click on tab to minimize. That MRU cycling via mouse click is really burned into my brain but sadly not supported by Vivaldi yet

You are asking for some extremely complex coding. A separate protocol must be written for every single possible keyboard layout.
