Snapshot 1.0.385.5 - Changes to tab opening and closing behaviour
-
So maybe in the next snapshot?

In that case, copying some may be a good thing, but overall, browsers are looking for simplicity, and Vivaldi is looking for power user features.
I also like the aesthetic of Vivaldi overall better than I like the UI of other browsers like Chrome, Opera, and Firefox. Going back to new Opera, it feels like I'm eating something bland and flavorless. It's usable, sure, but that's about all there is to it.
-
One other thing I'd like to see is a way to move frozen tabs without unfreezing them. Usually I just need to stack them together with other frozen tabs, in that case I ctrl-click on them(thank you for that), but sometimes I just want to move an individual tab without unfreezing it.

I'm not decided yet, and will try it out for some days as asked for *.
From a more formal view I would add this option anyway, because it is the 2nd natural option "everyone" would expect to be there.*: I use left-sided tabs with a triple section layout. Topmost there all my stickies, downmost I have all non-stickies (email, Vivaldi ..) which are nevertheless expected to stay opened for some time (forum-thread-of the-week etc.) - and in the middle section I group all my daily short-lived stuff (mostly news pages). And this meta-order top2bottom is also how I go through my stuff. Hence, for me the best way to restrict my mouse ways to a given section is this new relationship-based way combined with "right-to-current"
Anyway: thanks a lot for nother good step ahead. I'm already quite happy with what I do see during may daily use. Especially stability is fine for me (though I'm not a multi-window guy)
someone
arghhhh: these ongoing short-lived Vivaldi login-sessions drive me totally nuts. To me it simply doesn't make sense to use the web-forms to enter my messages, I just loose them to often…...:(

Thank you very much for the new tab settings, I was much needed. Now only other default tab behavior that we need is "background tab" for any new link. (Jut like any other browser).
Also, I don't know if you guys and girls are working on performance yet, but this build seems to be little more responsive than any other previous builds that I used in last couple of months.

Thank you guys for the new tab settings. Absolutely love it.
Vivaldi really is coming into its own with all that UI-options. Great work.
One thing that I have been wondering for quite some time now though:
Is a "Clean Browser Data on Exit" - Option planned?
Really need that one since Browsers waste a lot of space in the user profile in active-directory. Our admin always yells at the people who use chrome (I think there's no option to delete data on exit) because it blows up the profile data on his servers. On Vivaldi I currently circumvent this by installing it locally (standalone) and starting it with the option (–incognito). However that also doesn't work that well. When I start the browser from somewhere else (like clicking on a link in a mail via start default browser) it opens in standard mode.
Would be really helpful if that option comes anytime soon.

Have a look at http://www.webupd8.org/2014/01/enable-hardware-acceleration-in-chrome.html#comment-2491553196 for an explanation how to…..

Lastpass does not seem to fully work. When I open up a Lastpass page, like my password vault, it just gives me a blank page instead of the vault.

What is a frozen tab?
-
I have logged two feature requests for you
VB-12685 Allow disabling or reassigning the modifier (Alt) key gestures
VB-12686 Allow disabling or reassigning the keyboard shortcut (Alt) that opens the Vivaldi menu -
I can't promise that but we will see what we can do
-
I tried enabling and disabling. The close button doesn't show unless I mouse over.
-
On a previous report of mine (search and see on this page: https://vivaldi.net/teamblog/53-snapshot-1-0-279-3-bookmarks-sorting ) this was logged as VB-9363.
-
Yeah sorry, I made a mistake when compiling the changlog. VB-11751 is not fixed yet but rather VB-11751. I have updated the changelog above.
-
Gestures are my #1 reason to use Vivaldi in the first place
-
With regards to your suggestion on tab opening, we are actually looking at adding another option (or more) at the moment so I will take your feedback on board.
-
I can't replicate that but I will have someone in the team look at it.
-
Glad we made you happy and thanks for helping us!
-
Really glad to hear it. We aim to please!
-
So it does show when it's supposed to then. If the mouse isn't over the tab, you're not able to use the close button anyway, so no point in showing it until that happens.
