Snapshot 1.0.344.34 - move tabs between windows
-
On Windows too.
-
give a try to the ¨selection search¨ extension, it is even better than that
-
I can see your point Jon, It makes perfect sense if all you want is to move the tab to another window. However some people like to have their tabs organized in a certain way on each windows, which brings me to the next point.
Dragging tabs from one windows to another (assuming you can drop them in a specific position within the tabs) allows you to also change the placement of a tab to whatever position you want withing that window. As I understand, with the current functionality, this is not possible and in order to get the same effect an additional step would be required (right click -> change tab to windows -> drag tab to specific position).
Of course another option would be to have a shortcut to change the tab to another windows and another shortcut to move the tab around to get it into a specific position, all done with the keyboard, which to me sounds like the holy grail of tab management =D.
This is not a complain and I am not asking for functionality since you said you guys will do the drag functionality anyways so I'm perfectly happy with the way you are doing things, but I just wanted to give you my input which could, dunno, even change your mind as to which one you prefer ;).

Grin and bear it… it's finally just your turn. About time you had problems.
PS:Oh, I had a few problems with download also. Log in to Viv and for the FIRST time it showed the Update screen. Since I never just update ( I want a LOCAL COPY of whole program if something happens and found out through the years better to do it that way) I wanted to save to drive....it got to about 4 Meg and froze with I think total to get all was 35 Meg. Tried to restart it didn't
Got out of Viv went to FF had same problem FIRST time, 2nd. went through all the way but was TERRIBLY slow. Think that night all was slow though, but not that slow.

I am going to do it manually until they have import tested and really GREAT. Also I have to many old Operas to try….hopefully it will organize it somewhat and delete duplicate URL's or at the very least put them all together.
-
I can agree that that would be frustrating. I know they improved the tab muting feature a few snapshots ago, and I'm sure they'll keep improving it. I saw Safari had the option of seeing a menu of all the tabs that have audio and you could mute them all there, which sounds cool.
-
Have they forgot about session saves…I doubt it but a reminder probably have bigger fish to fry.
-
True. But pls don't forget about selecting and dragging several tabs at once to another window, aiming to pre-sort them into saved sessions. The most convenient way to do it - via Windows Panel in the Sidebar. This was excellent Opera 12 feature. Even nicer, if the same Windows Panel could show expandable list of saved sessions, so one can drag any tab from any saved session into a current session, open old tabs selectively, and resort them into sessions, amend old saved sessions with newly found relevant tabs.
I found it a regular task to somehow amend new tabs to old saved sessions, and also to cleanup saved sessions from now dead old tabs. In Opera 12 it was only possible by opening a session and took plenty of time. The same session editing job can be done via Sidebar without loading & rendering all tabs of a saved session. More, Bookmark Managers have Check Bookmarks feature for a long time. Why similar feature can't be a part of new Session Manager, thus periodically doing saved sessions cleanup from dead tabs?
Joining other folks, thanks for your effort in bringing back and enriching this wonderful browser!

Jon, speaking of Tabs and multiple ways to do things. One way is now missing to close select tabs in a cluttered window, when shorter tabs Close button is no longer visible. This style "[Replace Tab Icon with Close button on icon hover]](https://vivaldi.net/en-US/forum/all/746-vivaldi-feature-request?start=1500#42817)" is a great productivity tweak.

I can add that Vivaldi haven't reached its 1st release yet. Just recall, how many releases Opera went through to get functionality folks asked for and expect to see restored now!
-
I see bunch of stupid people here…
You can be as stupid as you want, but UWP is the best way for Windows users. I hope that some will not realize too late. -
I will - thanks!
-
Just grabbed it - nice!
-
Well, hate to burst you bubble, but I continue relatively problem-free. It's helsten2, to whom I replied, who has the problem
-
Did you try ctrl + left arrow to go back? Let me know if that works.

BROWSER FREEZE: It just happened again. I opened an entertainment magazine site that had embedded video on the page, browser froze, I went into Task Manager and killed the most recent Vivaldi process, and the browser un-froze.
-
Guys, CPU and RAM usage was way off the charts from what I'd expect from a normal browsing experience. I was on Gmail and Soundcloud, writing emails and listening to music, when I noticed my laptop was hot.
I had many tabs open anyway, some YouTube ones but I didn't play the videos. I opened task manager and saw that the CPU usage was up to 30%, which is not normal. Some of the processes demanded a little bit of CPU here and there. RAM usage was around 58%, also not totally normal. I killed the biggest process and the browser closed.
Anyway, I definitely want this to be fixed so it works like other browsers. I was hoping that the final could be this month, and hopefully it is, but it sounds like there's tons of people reporting freezes, videos not playing, or CPU/RAM usage. You guys would be wizards if you could fix that this month for the final.

You didn't burst my bubble I was replying to your DOWNLOAD problem that I posted above there not here.
-
Ah. Got it. See - I think of that as their problem, not mine.
