Snapshot 1.0.334.3 - Fixes for tab title cropping and Windows XP
-
"I tried the Toggle images function on the Status Bar and selected No Images. It works on the current page, but if I load another page, all images are shown.
Is that correct?
(the indicator on the status bar indicates "No Images" for all subsequent pages)"That's the way it "works" for now. One hopes a durable/persistent show/don't show images setting is in the works.
-
Yes.
But it is possible that pushing Bookmarks or Downloads triggers this misbehavior, and this will again affect the other shortcuts. -
I've mentioned this a few times before, still having issues with the browser not seeming to pass session or authentication information correctly if you click on something that opens to a new tab. Example is logging into Outlook.com and trying to compose an e-mail it opens a new tab but fails to load the page.

I have the same Tab problem with the AMD Radeon HD 6450.
vivaldi://gpu Log Messages:
GpuProcessHostUIShim: The GPU process exited normally. Everything is okay. The Contacts and Mail options are still missing from the side panel and their shortcuts don't work.

Is this just me or the spell checker option to select languages is gone?
When I right click on a misspelled word, I can't select the spell checker language anymore. Its gone, so spell checking defaults to English only.

Hmm, I understand your point. But VB-5475 Find-in-page bar overlaps page content, is definitiv a bug. Now with resize of the page is better than to work with the bug.
I suggest in early days to move the find in page to the status bar. There is enough space. So, X-mas is coming, maybe find in page in the status bar too?mf

That's right. Every inactive tab is rendered incorrectly after a while. It looks like this: http://i63.tinypic.com/bfqbdw.jpg

hm, frequent 'deadbird'-crashes on youtube and some news sites again: for example www.zeit.de
seems to be unusable for me -
It's not necessarily a bug, it's an inconvenience for some.
But yea, having it in the statusbar would be nice, but it has problems as well.
The current statusbar is too narrow to fit a textbox. And what about those who have the statusbar disabled? If it should not overlap page content and not trigger a resize, I only see one place to put it: Alongside the addressbar like the other search input.
The problem here is confusion with two diffrent search boxes, as well as UI changes depending on search being enabled or not. It's not easy creating an interface that is pretty, intuitive and functional all at the same time
And this is why we need options -
Yep, since 330 no password saving dialog…please fix it.
-
I'm still having trouble logging into the pocket website and the extension doesn't work. Also, I have trouble logging into www.viki.com and www.dramafever.com.
I'm running Mac OS X El Capitan.

Thank you for the autocomplete fixes!

Thanks. Looking forward to a fix. (I'm commenting so I can get emails too.)

Win 7 64 Bit, 8 Gig 32 Bit Viv
I downloaded whole file installed had no problems AT all. In fact all my page tabs showed up immediately in Viv Taskmanger. First time for that. For NOW reasonable CPU and Free memory, crossing fingers have said that before.
Addendum: CPU seems high 59% but maybe manageable..nothing else loaded so might not work, free mem down to 980 Meg. Have ONE Flash audio stream…background page is taking 26% CPU and Browser is using 20%.
Went to pot 100% CPU 32 min in 428 Free got to quit, closer. I NEVER get a long enough time to really ENJOY Viv or really use it for any length of time so hard to review or help
Happy Thanksgiving to all…..

Win 7 64 Bit, 8 Gig, 32 Viv
Laptop ATI Radeon and NO such problem. I wonder if drivers need to be updated? Installed from full file, Viv not loaded, not update.

Vivaldi is a Chromium-based browser. That's why it uses memory like Chrome, and it's also why it is going to require a fair amount of optimization and tweaking in order to to run light, fast and smooth on some kinds of hardware (it already does on mine). Chromium does, of course, come with some limiting factors, such as multi-process architecture.
Vivaldi has not been removed from any repositories. Mine, on an Ubuntu distro, continues to update every time I update the system. Linux repositories recognize Vivaldi "Beta" and "snapshot" as different versions. A snapshot will update to anything. A Beta will only update to another Beta.
Mail is still in the works. Jon and other staff at Vivaldi actually use versions of Vivaldi that include E-Mail. It just is not ready for prime time yet. The Mail and Contacts links were removed from the panel for probably more than one reason. I know for sure the Contacts panel, with no email to interact with, was causing some bugs. Further, there were multiple complaints here and in the forums that "If you're not giving us email RIGHT AWAY, you should remove the link from the panel - or at least remove the 'coming soon' message." Well, the same build the developers introduced the ability to hide panels, they also dropped those two links. I suspect it streamlined matters a bit in writing the show/don't show panels code as well.
You're welcome to take some time off and stop watching the progress of the browser, but I would take issue with the idea that, for many of us at least, it is "not worth the time." You are free to use you time at you will. I use Vivaldi as my default browser, and have since March, so of course I will continue to follow it with great interest as mail, and many other features, are added over time.

Please give us an option to disable inline autocomplete inside the address bar, show the suggestion in a drop down instead, just like the old days.
