Vivaldi launches its first beta

Xmarks does not work either. It loads but when clicking "sign in" nothing happens. I read somewhere on this blog that this is caused by Vivaldi not supporting some form of extension-spawned popup windows. So, sadly, "full extension support" is not exactly correct
-
Obscure but probably worth mentioning: under KDE4, when the alt+tab switcher is set to large icons, Vivaldi's icon shows up small there, as 48px icon instead of 128px (actually Chrome does this too).

Thanks Botchius. Time and antivirus is ok. I get same warning in FF, when try to download Beta build 52. I think I see the certificate is just misconfig.
Wondering if others get that warning also or if a tech can confirm its just the certificate config and it ok to download?

Would be great to have the ability to manually sort extension buttons like in Chrome or Firefox. Keep up the great work and make Opera shiver
-
The address bar doesn't always get focus on opening new tab, but I cannot pin down in what conditions this happens. It does happen somewhat frequently though. (under both Unity and KDE4)

That is because Chromium is dropping support for NPAPI plugins (and rightfully so!), so you'll need to find PPAPI alternatives. You can get PPAPI flash from here: https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/ just select your Operating System and "FP 19 for Opera and Chromium - PPAPI". Please do note that i haven't personally tried it but i assume it should work. As for Java, Silverlight and VLC - i don't believe they offer PPAPI versions so unfortunately they'll not be usable before (or rather, if) they make the switch.

Congratulations, guys! Thank you for the great work you have been doing.
-
never mind ..hmmm issue is mysteriously gone in both V and FF
-
Dragonfly needs support from the core, or better: it needs the scope protocol support: http://scope.bitbucket.org/scope/ Chromium does not have that.
-
Congratulations! My first impression is that it feels super fast - especially when I've installed Disconnect and I don't get bogged down by heavy-loading advertisements on web pages. Good job.
If I had two feature requests right now, it would be:
-
Allow me to disable the password manager. I have my own.
-
Allow me to see / clear browsing history.(Update: I just found that bit.) Ideally I'd like to have my browsing history auto-magically disappear and delete itself after just a few days.
-
-
AFAICS the extension violates a Content Security Policy for script execution. The extension probably needs to ask for the necessary permissions to work.
-
Gunning for native support is still better though.
-
Good work on the updates, guys and gals. Looking good. Feeling fast.
Two things;
-
Would like to disable password manager. I have my own.
-
Would like to automatically set browser history to delete after X days.
-
-
Grats guys! Keep up the great work! We're finally at the stage where the focus is on squashing those darn bugs!
I still can't believe I tried every single snapshot since day 1! Time sure flies! Very excited for future beta snapshots!
-
Good job, I can't wait for a Mail in Vivaldi :)!
-
I agree. Featurewise, there is nothing wrong with Devtools.
But Dragonfly is a lot more intuitive. Also way faster (but had less live changes in DOM inspector as far as I remember).I had to adapt myself to use Devtools. And at times still have to.
With Dragonfly, it pretty much all made sense from the get-go.I don't expect Vivaldi to re-create Dragonfly in the near future. There is way more important tings to get going first. But it would be nice addition at some point.

Yes, the only issue that stops me using V as a daily driver.

With all respect (btw. congrats as well!
). What about the bug:
Summary: whole UI freeze
Key: VB-10356I really do not understand how this 2-3 builds old major regression could make it into beta since reported and confirmed by many ppl here⦠It's driving me crazy as this bug keep occurring X times per hour...
(I'm glad that this will be fixed for me - snapshot user - soon but beta users will not be happy I guess) -
Most annoying thing Vivaldi:
Try to select part of the url by clicking it and the whole url is selected. And the annoying part: When you click there's http:// to be added in the front. Result is that you need to move mouse again to find the correct place AGAIN.Small thing but please keep the url at the same place (or add option to show/hide http(s):// permanently.
Otherwise:
Thanks!
RIP Opera 12
