Vivaldi launches its first beta
-
I just discovered Vivaldi yesterday and it made my day. I have been a fervent Opera user since 1998 but their recent change of direction left me with no real alternative in terms of user experience and usability. But this is over now, thanks to Vivaldi's team.

I have a strange bug:
I always have 3 pinned tabs. When there are no unpinned tabs switching between tabs by clicking on a tab is really strange (may be with one selection delay). No problems with Ctrl+Tab though. -

I can't disagree more; If you need to log-in, enter e-mail addresses, or your Name or postal Address, then the process become incredibly fast;
I really don't see what is not to like. -
Thank you for your personal reply. It is greatly appreciated

I can't disagree more; If you need to load, Name, Address, e-mail
Address, etc., etc., then it provided a really quick means to process
the information; Really don't see, what is not to like. -
Are the contents of the tabs the right ones or are they swapped? If swapped then that's a known bug when all tabs are pinned.

There is no problem with my mouse. The auto scroll feature is software based. At least Windows 7 does it not control in any way. 15 Seconds for one page is very fast. It is not an appropriate speed rate to read text. Opera 12.17 can scroll a lot slower. Maybe you should compare it to Adobe Readers auto scroll feature: Hit Ctrl-Shift-H, and control the speed during auto scroll with the keys 1-9. The minimum speed of adobe reader is comparable to Operas minimum.
I just tested the minimum scroll speed of Opera: On my machine it is about
1 Pixel in 20 seconds
Testing this comment page in a maximized window with screen height of 900 pixel, always showing Windows task bar, and the following horizontal bars in Opera enabled: Status, Bookmarks, Tabs, Address. Width is 1419px. -
Great job with beta! Now it's my default browser. Looking forward for mail client.

Perhaps because the blog is "English only?" Don't really know.
-
Per my test, Opera 33 and Vivaldi both scroll a page in 15.35 seconds at minimum speed.
-
Simply that it could store at maximum one or two values per form field, and that was by using one of the (only) 3 "other" values in the form-fill content dialog. A really good form completion protocol will offer you the choice of any value you have ever used for that field in the past. If, for instance, you have multiple addresses, multiple emails, multiple phone numbers (all of which I have) you soon run out of spaces in the old Opera form fill dialog to store these, so lesser-used ones will never be offered for a form field.
-
I sort of agree, maybe the mail client could be downloaded as a plugin into the browser for the people who want that though
-
thank u
its my main browser on freya looks great, fast and cool -
good to see the beta version finally. The one bad thing that happened to me was while i was downloading a video, the browser got less responsive and the CPU was high. Excluding that, i am loving that build.

Thank you so much!
With this release I started switching from Opera 12.17 to Vivaldi. There still are some rough corners and bugs, but nevertheless I found it already better than all alternatives. -
I do not use and I am not interested in Opera >= v15.
I am talking about Opera 12.17. -
Congrats - good work
But an extensions do not work in private window (Win7Pro Vivaldi 1.0.303.52 Beta 32bit). Anybody can confirm it? Or is it on my computer only? -
Yes, they are swapped. Glad to know this is a known issue
