Snapshot 1.0.303.40 - Beta Candidate with tab and import improvements
-
I've been running from a USB key at work where I have zero rights. I just copied the program from my user profile at home to the USB drive. Vivaldi updates itself just fine at work! (to my surprise… I'm locked out of almost any other "non-dumb-user" action over there!)
-
Unless they think of something better I'm happy with it too.

Hi, regarding the hidden lazy tabs loading feature where only the active tab is loaded on browser restart, is is possible to change the settings for this in the future, plus I've noticed sometimes it randomly opens all the other tabs, I was loading a flash plugin in another tab when this happened and the other tabs including all the youtube ones I have open, started loading.when I didn't click or focus them. When this happened Vivaldi started freezing and getting slow.
-
Update: don't know if it's on account of a reboot or what (tried at least 3 or 4 times) but importing data (bookmarks, password and history) from G Chrome all came through in a flash with little notification window to let you know the job was done. Congrats to Vivaldi!

What you mean precisely? Have it worked for you previously? When you scroll upon hovering over the tab bar it will always be tab order.
-
Thanks.

Dunno if y'all know about this one or not, but sometimes while a page is loading (like, when it's trying to get some particular bit of content) it seems like keyboard shortcuts stop working. They're seemingly "queued up" until that whatever finishes loading, and then they all fire at once - so if you tried to switch tabs once, then hit the key again because you're not sure if it worked or not, you end up getting two tab switches.
Have seen something like this in earlier versions, but only just now was I able to pin down what was happening and why. Getting this behavior with the current beta candidate (1.0.303.40) on OSX 10.9.5.
Oh, and while I'm discussing keyboard shortcuts - a "stop loading" shortcut (was Escape in Opera) would be nice. As well as the ability to customize whether or not middle-click to open in a new tab opens said tab in the foreground or background.

Still no private tabs.
BTW: Do things ever get fixed/added by reporting them here or is there a public bug tracker issues/features have to be added to?
-
There is no bug tracker. One can report bugs at vivaldi.com/bugreport.html or here or on the forums. They are addressed no matter what route the developers learn of them from. Private tabs rather than private window for Chromium-based browsers is a more fraught proposition. I'm not gonna say they will never do it, but it's not simple, and I don't expect it any time soon. They have said once the browser in general is stable, they are likely to look at the possibility of private tabs.
-
I, too, like double-click to generate new tab.
-
A long time ago as I recall. Seems it was generating more overhead than the developers wanted.
-
Presto Vivaldi ☧
-
Awesome!
-
No. not over here. After doing the update, the tabs of my existing (persistent) session haven't not been wheel-scrollable through in plain tab order. When I opened a series of new tabs, it is working in tab order only just for them.
Maybe important: I also use the extension SimpleTabOrder with the setting position right of current tab for position of new tabs.
Yes, it has worked with Snapshot 1.0.303.37.
-
We worked out what this was and what caused it. Testing a fix internally now.
-
Just when I thought I was going to be able to watch a series on Netflix, the browser says "Sike!". Other than that, the browser is looking great! Keep up the great work!
-
Kewl! What the hell are you doing up at this hour? Isn't it too early to be working on a Saturday?
-
Ah I see. Well, hopefully they can bring it back at some point in Beta. I love the way Microsoft Edge handles the opening and closing of tab animations.
-
Depends on the software. I have many programs that show the underlines permanently - not only when hovering or pressing Alt - and every other variety too. There seems no fixed rule for that in the real world, some programs don't show them at all, which is a thing I really do not like.
-
This is happening to me too. For the past few snapshots, it has been happening. I am using the 64-bit version on Windows 10 Build 10565.
