Snapshot 1.0.303.37 - Beta Candidate with Thumbnail improvements
-
The gap will be even bigger if you open only a few tabs. I agree that it's a usability issue. In Opera 12.17 I moved the Trash can to the Tab Bar Floating Toolbar, so it's always to the left of the new tab button, however many tabs are open.
-
You asked why only four thumbnails would fit, and I explained the reason. On most desktop PCs six thumbs will fit at 100% UI Zoom, which is about right.
Other refinements to the speed dial will no doubt come in due course, but this blog is not the right place to discuss the topic. Opera 33 already has a much better implementation of speed dial, but that has been developing since Opera 15. Vivaldi is a relatively new kid on the block.

I like the idea! And while you're at it, please add an "Stack with active tab" option when right clicking on a background tab as well.

[Windows 8.1, Vivaldi 1.0.303.37 (32-Bit), tabs on top]
Had a bug at home on my Asus EeePC 1000h (ancient, I know; resolution is 1024x600) where no tab was visible anymore after exiting fullscreen mode. The whole tab bar was empty except for the trash bin and the "+" icon. No page was closed though. And all the tabs reappeared on the tab bar after I added a new tab. I was able to reproduce it reliably (had only 3 tabs open: 2 x heise.de and this blog) on my EeePC. Here at work all works fine… -
just saying "thank you" to staff, the previous beta candidate I couldn't use because it took my cpu % very high and the browser freezes. I am using this build no problems

the Linux version is replacing the libffmpeg in /opt/vivaldi-snapshot with a version which isn't capable of some codecs - so I have to replace it with the one from chromium after an update to regain the functionality. Probably I could place some kind of write protection on that file, but it's a bit annoying - and I'm sure not only for me.
I'm repeating myself:
what about a trash in bookmarks
a 'resume download' functionality
an improved context-menu:- search with different engines out of the context-menu
for example search with wikipedia, dictionaries, google-books, -news, -maps, -translate… - open link in private window, ....
- add link to notes
- add link to speed-dial
- add link to bookmarks
Besides that - runs great so far! Keep going!
- search with different engines out of the context-menu
-
I would appreciate it too if this function comes back in the near future. Allready created an bugreport (VB-9921) regarding this.

The game does not work well in Linux

Regression:
Working with popup js windows I now get this error message:
Uncaught SecurityError: Blocked a frame with origin "https://<…>" from accessing a frame with origin "swappedout://". The frame requesting access has a protocol of "https", the frame being accessed has a protocol of "swappedout". Protocols must match. -
There are some minor omissions in Vivaldi (for example mouse usage in the bookmarks bar or absence of a trash button not to mention some other context issues - @shnick has described them in detail) but otherwise things are getting better and better. One thing though: Vivaldi's Achilles' heel is the speed dial. Not only it is far more difficult to use and ultimately feels 'manual' compared to Opera's speed dial, but it also consumes much more memory: ~ 203.000K (task manager) while the exact same speed dial entries in Opera take up only ~ 46.000K (4,5 times less memory). You should dig into that issue and even consider using favicons that do not update. Cold start is also an issue compared to Opera.

Ugh…. upgraded to Windows 10 (did a clean install of everything) and now I'm having the same issue I had since I first installed vivaldi (long time ago):
Note: Adobe Flash Player is already installed, but disabled. Click here for more information.shockwave
Now to remember how I fixed it last time
-
Found it in comments of previous Vivaldi release when I had similar problem…
Needed to install PPAPI version of Flash Player -
A restart doesn't bring them back?
-
That doesn't leave us much to work on. An example testcase would be good.
-
I kept thinking that this was going to be added- where is the ability to detach tabs to make them their own window? Fairly frequently I realize that I want to move one of my tabs to my other monitor.
-
Try Shift+Ctrl+MouseWheel to zoom in/out
-
Try Alt+left arrow (right arrow) to navigate back (and forth) like in many other (Windows) applications.

After Snapshot 1.0.300.xx, the import of data does not terminate indicating the dialog of data import. But the data (favorites) is actually imported!
This did not occur before 1.0.300.xx! -
I would LOVE TO see Ctrl+1-9 opening the Speed Dial 1-9 slots - it is VERY HELPFUL and quick for work And every day use - this is the only thing keeping me on opera 12, i personaly use all of the 9 quick slots + Ctrl+enter for passwords
