Snapshot 1.0.233.3 - Reload bypassing cache shortcuts and a visual clue for Rewind
-
Chrome can pay (it's Google), Opera 15+ uses the OS codecs (Microsoft and Apple paid already), but needed a full year of dev to make that happen. As does Safari (being an Apple product help here). I'm not sure about Fx.
The other issue is that Quicktime or VLC plugins could have been used, but they won't work in a few months, when Chromium will remove support for NPAPI plugins. And I don't know about QuickTime, but I know VLC won't code a new plugin in PPAPI format.
Oh, and another trouble is that Chromium is sandboxed, that means it's really hard to ask another software to do the decoding of video part… -
@ruario:
Bypassing your cache causes Vivaldi to completely re-download a web page (from scratch).
will we have the back button to instantly restore without reloading the page?
-
Unless I'm missing it in the issues log, since the last update, the save picture dialogue when using Facebook hangs. It cannot be cancelled and the dialog box remains and Vivaldi must be forced to quit to remove it. Otherwise, this isn't stopping me from using it as my default browser in OS X.
-
Again, not many changes that affect me personally, but it's nice to see you guys catering for all the niches on your user base.
Any updates on the HTML5 thing? Like, nearing completion, halfway through, or still a long way ahead?
-
The only nagging problem I have is with Facebook Videos, which I would like the ability to play on here xD. Beyond that, I am completely satisfied with the new browser, and (after the Technical Preview) will supplant Opera for me after I upgrade to Windows 10

@Gwen-Dragon:
No, they built in a button which records Disco music like Night fever, noght ferver, ahaaaa…
Oh, my friend, if only…...

That nagging problem thankfully was resolved in the Mac builds just before the release of TP4 and has remained solved. I'll fire up VMware and see if it persists in Windows 10 with the latest release and let you know.

The Chromium update seems to have improved performance marginally.
Firefox 39.0 scored 3843 and 7/7 (467/555)
Vivaldi/1.0.233.3 scored 3669 and 6/7 (526/555)
Vivaldi 1.0.219.51 scored 3653 and 6/7 (526/555) -
I don't know what's wrong but I'm still having trouble with the auto update in Win8.1/10 x64 builds. Only Mac checks updates at startup and in Windows I need to manually check them. I've already left it open for a few hours and I still don't see the update box pop up. Didn't work with a clean install.
-
I have 2 monitors but the right hand monitor is my primary. I don't see any problem (even with Vivaldi maximized). Win7 x64.
Edit: Just tried with my left monitor as primary and I confirm I now can see the reported problem.

Sorry for getting the wrong name, looking back 5 days ago, it was actually Gwen-Dragon.
I have many years of experience in beta testing, and have often had developers miss something. that they are later able to reproduce when I clarify the recipe. It is not a random bug that happens only sometimes. It is easily reproducible.
1. Drag a tab to the other side of another tab, left or right doesn't matter, just move it anywhere.
2. Let go of the left mouse button
3. Grab it again, and drag againWindows 7 64-bit, 32-bit Vivaldi, Standalone installation, Maximised window, tabs to top of window, panels on the right, no popup previews, Vivaldi button and no menu bar.
VB-8006 is also easily reproducible. The video either stops with a still image or blacks out on clicking the fullscreen button. The sound continues to play. The escape key restores the video playback. Flash Player 18.0.0.209.

Couldn't you do something like require an installation of Chrome, then copy the codec or something?
-
Thanks for that! It sounds sort of like Duran Duran.
The video link/picture in your post was blank until I hovered the mouse over the blank space, then it suddenly appeared but it blinked in and out like a fast strobe light.
Clicking the area with the Play button worked but the video blanked out and the music still played.
Clicking the "YouTube" and "Max" buttons worked as expected.
After the video finished playing, the link/image is visible… most of the time.
This is much better than Vivaldi crashing on YouTube videos and leaving the video playing invisibly in the background until you search and destroy all of the VivaIdi processes.

Also, a VLC ppapi plugin is listed as a key goal for the next few years btw.

Ok, build 10240 of Windows 10, running in VMware Fusion and this build of Vivaldi, embedded videos seem to be functioning properly. My FB security settings are autoplay disabled. As this is running in a virtual machine, it might not be a valid comparison.

Bug: Open up with only speed dial, switch to History, Clear Browsing Data… [this opens up in an empty settings tab + a popup to clear the various things], delete all history, close the empty settings tab = this leaves with no tabs on the tabbar, only with a plus sign to open new tabs, yet the speed dial is open (can ctrl+tab to it). [Standalone install of 1.0.233.3, 32bit on Win7_x64]
P.S.: Unable to report on vivaldi.com/bugreport due to some smtp error… -
Why not make the "hold mouse left to show previous pages" to mouse-right instead? Atleast for PC anyway, i can understand it being like that for touch devices but mouse-right would make more sense to mouse users.
-
Thanks Cqoicebordel. I appreciate the details.
-
How can I disable working mouse gestures by Alt-key? It's really annoying for me.
-
The setting "Use native window" does not respect the native windows design on Windows 7 which seems pretty paradoxical. Any plans for changing this behavior? Thanks.
