Where is the "biting nails anxiously" smiley?
-
At this rate it will be another year, or more for a truly usable Browser. And I cannot help but wonder, if even then. Obviously, anxiousness and holding breath, not recommend. Wishing the Developers the best of luck, or the like.
-
I think we get a solid release candidate by the end of the year, even with a year or two yet to go before we begin to see a "perfect" (totally usable in all environments, totally customizable) browser. For me, the browser is "truly usable," as it stands. It still needs extension compatibility, email, private browsing, ability to set any toolbar anywhere, ability to turn on and off previews no matter where the tab bar is, etc., but when comparing with other actual browsers available to me in the marketplace, this one is a hairline, if not head and shoulders, above them. The missing features and customizations are not make or break for me, like they are for many others.
-
it's really annoying to wait for all the tabs to load while start-up. an option to "Delay loading of background tabs" is a crying need.
-
And sorry about the eye. It has nothing do to with Illuminati or Masons, but merely (as a blended image of my own eye plus one I found on line) the idea of actually seeing what one is looking at - an extremely rare property in all of modern culture. The obsessive urge to classify, categorize, judge, evaluate, interpret, LABEL what one sees causes a partial or nearly-complete blindness in something like 80-90 percent of the population. So they don't see what is in front of or around them. And since accurate perception is a fundamental requirement for optimum action, we live in a decidedly effed-up world.
-
I get what you're saying, but geez - how many tabs do you HAVE? I've got 13 at open, on average, and there is no perceptible delay.
-
+1. Would be most welcome. Choice.
-
A new update coming soon?
-
Thanks,
-
We're overdue for an update, so they must have something special coming. At least, I'd like to think so…
-
Yes maybe!!! :0
-
I think the mail app on the browser is coming next!
-
I don't think there will be a new feature after TP3. Maybe the team is making a decision to push this to beta.
-
Well, mail is being developed parallel to versions we have, so i don't think it has to do with this snapshot delay. Anyway, i am always waiting for new versions to see what new small bugs were fixed, and new small features added.
Beside that, i do not understand why its so hard someone from team to write one sentence: no Monday snapshot this weak, and that's it, instead we refresh this page every day all the time to see nothing is changed. But, its free browser, and kinda best of the rest, so no use complaining.
-
I want to believe we'll have something related to HTML5. Or at least fixes to the Speed Dial issues.
-
I agree, they should take 5 minutes of their day to post about the delay.
-
There's no need to load a tab until it is clicked.
I'd say: there's no need to postpone loading a background tab if and when both of the following are true:
- The foreground tab is completely done;
- There is enough free CPU and memory.
The need for options here would be greatly reduced if we had a sane default taking the previous logic into account.
Also, more elaborate caching could enable processing background tabs much faster and with less CPU strain at a restart. This one might ask for a setting, as certain people might prefer seeing fresh content and some a snapshot of the page as it was when they left off.
-
confirmed! ArchLinux, Chinese

Agree, they are probably reading all this comments if they really love what they are doing and cares about client's feedback, but since monday its my 99+ visit to this page and still nothing and not a single message here or on twitter about the delay, looks like old opera manners and other big players.
-
Sorry for not posting earlier guys, but this week is pretty busy with Monday having been off (Oh boy, these are cases when non-native English speakers have to think twice… ^^) for most part of the world and most developers are not in the office right now.
As we announced in the beginning, we plan to release snapshots "roughly once a week". And we also try to be consistent with those Monday releases, but it's not always possible for whatever reason there might be.
I just had a little internal talk about it. We're going to try to calm your shaky hands down tomorrow, but it's a 50% chance only. If not, we just have to skip one and Monday will be the next snapshot.
