Feature requests for 1.7
-
@dLeon https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Vivaldi
There are installation files, also a repository with pre-built packages. What is your request? -
Add to desktop capability! As in Chrome or make it better if you can.
Make web apps look and behave a bit more like "real" applications.
Spotify's web player would be an excellent candidate for this.
And we've got a couple of other suitable applications at work... -
I would like to give tab groups a name. I would appreciate this if it's in anyway possible.
-
@hutch2030 It's already possible, and has been for a while. Right-click on a tab stack to rename it.
Specs: AMD A10-6800K, 8 Gb on Win 7 64-bit • Snapshot 1.7.735.11
-
@hutch2030 To enable this feature you need to go to Settings-->Tabs--> activate checkbox "Allow Tabstack Renaming" because by default this is deactivated.
Next rightclick a tabstack and select "Rename Tabstack" -
An on/off toggle switch for JavaScript might be a good idea.
-
@dLeon I'm happy for your agreement.
And I made the image about this feature.
But I think it is good to replace Tab-Mute button with Stop & Play button on the tab ,too. Like this image.
-
@kyu3a I have upvoted your post merely because of your excellent drawing skills...
-
@LawrenceScafuri I like the current UI - so please allow us to have the choice if you introduce a new one.
-
@pafflick Thank you!
-
@kyu3a Cool idea. But I like the look of your sketch way better I want my vivaldi look like this. I don't need only straight clear lines.
So I make this a different request:I want a Vivaldiskin/ theme that makes it look like a drawing (in the best case even with chooseable colour but this optional) - this would be so awesome.
-
@kyu3a That is really awesome idea, it only lacks a time bar where you can drag with your mouse to a certain point in the song/video like you can in players/youtube.
As far as the Tabs are concerned, I would rather have the option to set this individuality and customizable. So it can suit everyone's needs, tho that would be a bit trickier to do I guess.
I think it would be best if you can always have the Close X on the Tab, and preferably have both Mute and Play/Stop, altho I do agree that a play/stop would've made much more sense initially. Especially with video content like Youtube and some random embedded videos on websites (how I hate those >:P) instead of only muting them.
However, I'm not sure how and whether this will work for other content like flash players and some HTML5 elements, if it can stop those as well, then a mute would be nearly obsolete.
If not, then maybe it would be a good idea to have the Mute in addition with the Play/Stop/Pause.
And I guess your concept would actually work like a Play/Pause, rather than a Play/Stop. Meaning, the content would play and when you press the button again, it will stop till where it was rather than doing a full stop and starting from the beginning if you press the button to resume, right? :3

Clicking Open when downloading a file should put it in some temporary folder and open it from there (as in Opera Presto)
I really don't want to keep all those 1 MB web-installers.
-
possibility to rename tab (not rename grouped tabs that is already provided, but to rename a single tab). despite it is said "already there in the latest builds" in vivaldi 1.6 (https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/12240/feature-requests-for-1-6/67), i do not find it. so i request for it in vivaldi 1.7.

A (optionally?) smarter "Find in Page" feature.
Some simple pattern matching, like the "usual" ? and * for one or many characters (all the way up to go full regexp)
Simple logic, namely
– OR : to allow, eg. "center OR centre", "mp3 OR ogg"
-- NEAR : as in "Elizabeth NEAR Richard". This is a soft-AND, as in "Elizabeth AND Richard in the same paragraph, or so"(repost of an already requested in 1.5, see https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/10874/feature-requests-for-1-5/136)

@Metal said in Feature requests for 1.7:

@Metal Thank you for your agreement!
At first, I thought to add timebar to this feature, too. But in the case of video, on the video site (e.g. YouTube, Vimeo, and so on) , I can control timebar with watching thumbnail of video. And on the podcast site (e.g. SoundCloud, and so on), I can control timebar with watching the number of seconds. So, I think it is better to control timebar on the video (or podcast or radio or music) site.
And I think it is possible to add thumbnail or time displaying feature to this feature. But I think it is very difficult. So, I add volume slider to this feature. Not timebar.
And I guess your concept would actually work like a Play/Pause, rather than a Play/Stop. Meaning, the content would play and when you press the button again, it will stop till where it was rather than doing a full stop and starting from the beginning if you press the button to resume, right? :3
Yes! "Pause" is right. I mistook.

Import colour schemes from other standards such as .Xresources. UI "ricing" has been something of a beloved past-time for many linux users over the past decades. This has generated a treasure trove of beautifully crafted colour schemes for terminals in a standardized fashion that is colloquially known by its filename .Xresources (formerly .Xdefaults).
See here for some delightful examples:

Please allow us to drag and drop the extensions buttons in the bar in our desired order --and be sure they keep in the positions we set them. I have some extensions that keeps change their buttons position nearly all the time, it's not good for productivity.
-
@mspector Such request is already on the list. It's better to vote for requests instead of duplicating them.
-
@pafflick I'm sorry, didn't notice that. Glad it's on the list.
Cheers!
